Wally is fair and hard. If you attend all the classes, take good notes, ask questions when you need help, and listen to everything he says.. you will do just fine. He's hard, but he's fair, and he challenges you which makes him a good prof in my books.

The one thing that bugged me about this class was that he didn't go over any of the textbook! I read the whole book and not one time did he go over anything from it! If you didn't understand any of the concepts/terms in the textbook...it stayed that way (unless of course you go and ask him!)

One of the most respectable profs I been with.Good marker but 100% attention in the class is necessary.A very experienced person in his field. He knows a great deal of what he teaches.

His tests consisted mainly of material from the textbook, which students had to learn on their own time. The textbook was never discussed in the lectures. Written response questions were marked fairly hard, and multiple choice questions were very specific. He rarely held my attention during his lectures.

the class IS hard. too many details. from those 100-150 pages that student has to read b4 the exam he asks only about details... Moreover the lecture's material is no related to the exam, except very boring videos.

His tests are extremely hard and to add to that he is a hard marker as well. I found that he put a lot of unimportant stuff on tests. He doesn't use the text in class but gives lectures off the top of his head but you NEED to read and make notes on the text. Seems a little grumpy.

Impossible to follow - his lectures are related in no way to the text 99% of the time and he skips back and forth through history like its nothing. Exams unfairly hard - lots of reading with nothing to relate it to. Any interest I had was trashed after taking this course with him!!

Walter is an amazing prof! I also took arky 1000 with him, and in both classes I've seen great amounts of knowledge. His jokes, though rare, lighten up the class and you only won't get them if you are stupid. He makes sure that he uses interesting examples to make the information stick. Got an A+ in 1000 (without studying much)

Okay, so I do agree with a few people. The first two exams were almost (if not exactly) straight off the website. BUT then next three exams were essay questions and were completely fair. I think he was a good prof and made the lecture interesting. He was really nice outside of class too. BUT you have to attend class, otherwise you miss everything.

i adore walter! everybody complains that he's to hard blah blah blah, go to class and you'd be fine! answer the question properly on the test and you'll be fine! he's a real sweetheart if you talk to him outside of class and he'll help you out big time. just remember your Ps and Qs!

I think he would be good if he actually lectured once in a while, stopped playing games, and realized that most people that take the class only are there to get their science requirement and ease up a little bit. It is my wost mark in 5 years of university and I thought it would be a fun way to use up my last 1000 level class.

Firstly, what kind of UNIVERSITY professor teaches a student to use rote memorizing for tests?! I think that he wanted the class to fail, especially since his tests were either based off a website that gave "mock" tests or the tests covered a ridiculous amount of text material. He even mainly played videos...I didn't pay class tuition for that!

I thought he was an excellent teacher. I'm not at a "good" student and I did pretty well in his class WITHOUT really reading the text(B+), I mean I might of checked out some things but I did basically the minimum amount of work. He's hilarious and he WILL help you if you're brave enough to go ask. Make sure you ALWAYS read questions carefully tho!!

You must read the textbook to do well on the tests, the questions are mostly directly out of the textbook.*Here is a hint though, on the course sylabus he recommends you go to a website,on this website you will find all (or the majority) of the questions he puts on his tests*.Memorize the answers on the website and you will get 100% on the exams!!!
