He's tough, but it makes you work hard. You will learn a lot. I like how his lecture notes are structured, but he has to be the hardest prof to listen to. He smokes a pipe so every other word is a little cough... gets really old and annoying. If you are at college to push yourself and learn...while not caring so much about grades, take his clas

A bit intimidating when you first sit down in his classroom, but a great guy once you get to know him. He's a veteran in biology and uses his experience to help his students every day.

Comment:

Dolphin is really hard. His lectures aren't the most attention grabbing and he says he hates testing students on vocabulary then turns around and does it anyway. His tests are very difficult. However, you should always attend class. He often does roll-call quizzes. If nothing else spend the time surfing Facebook and hope something he says sticks

Comment:

Lectures can be boring to anyone but someone who loves biology. Used the text more for the lab and reference. Tests seemed to be 'fact based', and homeworks could be lengthy. If you love biology and/or live on the Discovery Channel, take Dr. Dolphin's class.

Dr. Dolphin provides me with an hour-long nap 3 times a week. I always enjoyed Biology but he makes me dread it. His tests are extremely hard and he expects you to cover material that he doesn't get to in class. I would highly recommend that if you have one of his classes to get in a different section.

I think that professor Dolphin is a pretty decent teacher. His tests are really hard, but there is a fair amount of homework in the class that can bring your grade up if you don't do so well.

Dr. Dolphin is a very capable and exciting teacher. As long as he thinks that you are trying you will recieve help from him. He does a rather good job of keeping his lectures interesting although i will say that i fall asleep from time to time anyways!

The class was difficult which was expected for a college level biology course. The tests were difficult, but if you study the slides and answer the study guide questions they are possible to get an A on. A lot of time required. Gives homework to help grade. I thought Dolphin was a great teacher and was very knowledgeable in his area.

Awful. I barely could get past his throat clearing. When I did, all I heard was his pretty monotone voice. Very very hard tests and he is very unclear about what information he wants you to remember. Basically, read the entire book and you might get a C.

his throat clearing is annoying but thats not the problem. His power points are ok , but in clas she goes by them VERY fast, so lecture gets you no where . His tests are some of the hardest Bio tests i have ever seen, my friend is in the same bio, we studies together , knew the same stuff , and she had a different teacher.. she got an A i got a C

Dolphin's tests are hard and yeah,he asks questions like none of the above,one of the above, maybe some of the above. BUT he sets the stage for college and makes you push yourself. If it weren't for Dolphin my freshman year at Iowa State, I wouldn't be sitting here getting a 4.0 in grad school. He showed me how to work hard to get what I want.
