Had Wayne Alt for philosophy 10 yrs ago. Gives you nothing but RUDE insults & name-calling, and yet NO constructive criticism. Failed papers the on-campus tutoring office helped me w/ (went back 3 times, still failed). Hovered over our shoulders while we filled out teacher evals. Reported him to dean. Unprovoked rants attacking ppl who voted Bush.

Very monotone and repeats him self A LOT. His class can be extremely boring. Assignments are not very clear and extremely vague. But he is extremely flexible. He gives extensions on papers and pretty much lets you write your papers on whatever you want (as long as its relevant to the readings). The text books are very interesting and easy to read.

A standardless and inconcistant man who is quite intelligent but, deserves little recognition for his interpretation of philoophy and much less for his ability to convey it to his students effectivly. Extremely un-organized and unwavering but, a vey nice guy. I really hope this is not indicative of the future of the honors program at CCBC. Sub-par.

Dr. Alt, although perhaps monotone, is a very good teacher and definitely an intelligent person. Take some time to actually learn about what he is teaching, and a new appreciation for his class will arise. Why take a philosophy course and expect it to be easy? He always has time for his students if things get confusing.

Interesting topic, but awful professor. Do not have grading skills at all. Had spelling errors on test questions! Never take him. You can survive without taking philosophy class.

You have to literally loose your faith, because as long as you believe in god he will give you a hard time. so what ever you do run....run ....run.

While opinionated, and close minded, he is an interesting person and will help you with any discussion when asked about them after class. his only grades were online quizes which were extremly easy, and one short essay, which was also graded quite liberally. Not the best teacher, but the low difficulty of his class makes it an easy A.

Fairly easy class, but a TERRIBLE professor. He is so demonstrative, demeaning, and very opinionated. He would like to claim he wants to create productive, non-confrontational discussions, but he clearly just wants a bunch of sheep who will cling to his every word and never question him. If you do question his logic, be prepared to be belittled.

Ill tempered, ill mannered, dry, boring and scattered. No tolerance for questions, stupid or otherwise. Will lecture for an hour, then say, "you don't need to know this". An A is possible, but unlikely. Course book is $20, read it on your own, admit there is no God, and you have essentially taken his class. CCBC should use Ockham's razor on him!

I took the class online and found it very easy, and I work full time. As long as you do the required (minimal) reading and post on the discussion board, you will do well. The online quizes were timed but you can use your book. I got a 98% in the class but most people failed the course b/c they never posted anything or their posts were pointless.

Proff. Alt likes to use the book ALOT! He likes to repeat himself and i do know that next semester he will make attendance mandatory. If you read and study all of the papers that he gives you than you will pass with flying colors. Also be prepared to be online a lot.

Ok, Mr. Alt is repetitive. Does not tolerate stupid people and is strict. If you like being on the internet then this is a great class. Online timed tests, online discussions, online notes.my tip: READ THE BOOK & NOTES!! then you'll get an A and show up he likes that too. Im thinking Ill fail the class though. i never can get online in time 4 test

If you read the book you will be fine. But the man rambles nonstop. I had him for a summer session and he repeated the same stuff for two class periods. I did well in the class. Wasnt thrilled with the teacher.

He is the worst teacher I've ever came in contact with, he basically wants to teach that there is no God and makes the entire class about that not philosophy, if you disagree he will tell you you sound stupid as he told me. He is so insecure about his statements he can't even look at the class while he is lecturing. The WORST!!!!

Has no sense of reality whatsoever! Repeats the same thing over and over and over and over and over ..... again! Does activities that have nothing to do with the subject. We spent a whole class watching him paint Chinese letters just because we were talking about Chinese philosophy. Expect to be bored out of your mind!!

Passionate teacher. Class was mostly on line, but not an online class. Wants you to think out of the box. Very compromising with grades and test. I thought the book was stupid, but want you to evaluate their ideas.
