Very nice man, tries to be helpful, but mixes things up a lot leading to confusion. I type my notes to keep up with how often he erases things or squeezes things in. Picks ridiculous test Qs and says everything is important, so its impossible to have the time to adequately study literally everything he said in class, but he expects you to.

You can't get by in any of Dr. Elban's classes without actually learning the stuff. There is a lot of memorization. Keep detailed notecards. If he asks a question on a test, don't just answer it; put everything you know about the topic down. Overall: very tough teacher, awesome guy

If you listen to him and do your homework outside of class, it is difficult not to do well. He reviews all problems, tells you exactly what to study for the test, and is good about office hours.

Good teacher once you learn how he works and grades. Grades very fairly in my opinion, though extra credit is always out of the question. Make sure you read each chapter at least once or you will find yourself in some tough positions.
