Extremely knowledgable; Overall engaging but occasionally boring lectures; Much reading; a short (5-7) paper, a long (15-20) research paper, and an all-essay final; helpful during office hours; fair grader; kind personality.

Moyer is an institution! If you have the chance to take a class with him, go for it. Recently, he's been all about climate change and those classes are really cool. I have to admit, I did snooze in International Relations every once in a while, but Moyer has encyclopedic knowledge of what he teaches and his assignments are often fun to complete.

Professor Moyer is my favorite! He chooses very interesting readings. I was always procrastinating in my other classes to do the Human Rights homework. He is so organized and prepared for every class. If you get the chance, take a class with him before you leave Grinnell. He made me certain I wanted to major in political science.

Interesting lectures, interesting reads. But be prepared for a LOT of work; it's 40-70 dense pages per class, along with a 7 page paper, a debate, a 15 page final paper, and an essay final. Worth the work though--the stuff you learn is simply awesome.

Took his tutorial on Coping With Climate Change: How Science, Politics, and Ethics Intersect and enjoyed it very much. He is a very, very smart man, a fair grader, and all around great guy. He does expect a lot from you, even in the tutorial setting, but, you will enjoy the class as a whole. Can't wait to take some of his Poli Sci courses.

I can't imagine another 200-level course having this much reading. On top of that, the reading itself seems very outdated, and it gets old trying to apply the same three models to every single foreign policy situation that you study.

Two thumbs up! He taught me everything I know about international relations. Really inspiring guy! Invites you to his house and feeds you breakfast during exam review. Lectures on the Cold War policy are truly awe-inspiring. The only problem is that his classes are so popular that it can be difficult to have real discussion. TONS of reading.

Excellent. Very personable and highly intelligent. A lot of reading, but his choice of books is excellent. I still reference them years later in my own work. Please take a class from him if you are interested in foreign policy making and international relations.

He does assign lots of reading and actually expects you to complete it and analyze it. His lectures are really interesting and he is incredibly intelligent and knowledgable. He is also the only professor I know who will sit down and chat with you, unscheduled, for an hour on any given day.

Outstanding professor and person. I'm still in touch with him more than 10 years down the line, and find that I apply lessons I learned from him nearly every day in the "real world." Will make huge amounts of time available to students taking an interest - take advantage of this!

You know, he's one that you should get to know outside the class. He harvests the good kids, mentors 'em, and keeps watching out for 'em years later. One of the best.
