Pros: It is hard to fail his class. He will let you give any assignments in a week late. He is very approachable, will literally do almost anything to help you. If you miss a lab or a lecture, you can attend the other's sections labs or lectures. Cons: He is sometime hard to understand with his accent and gives a lab and assignment every week.

Dr. Du is a nice guy and is interested in the course content. He gives a lot of good notes on the board which is helpful because his accent can be difficult to understand at times. I didn't like that we didn't make it very far in the course because he spent too much time on the easier content at the start. Also, the project was poorly handled.

Awful professor. Complete lack of planning, structure, or clear outline of what is expected of us. The assigned coursework is unrealistic. We hardly covered half of the material on the course outline. Very displeased. In spite of this, he is approachable and nice (but his advice and help with labs is usually very poor).

On assignments his English sentences lack of basic structure, forcing you to try and decipher what he was trying to ask. Questions are very ambiguous. References wikipedia on multiple occasions. Uses his opinion in subjective matter as fact.

In hindsight, this course would have been better as an online course. While he seems to know what he's teaching, he's incredibly hard to hear and understand. This alone would make a big difference in his rating. Lots of work as well, which is both good and bad. The textbook is mandatory.

The class was incredibly boring, stopped going about half way through. Some people complained about the amount of work that was involved and I find that they were over reacting. My issue was that the assignments, labs, and project didn't relate. He did, however, help two students until 8:30pm to prepare for an upcoming midterm.

VERY hard to understand with his accent and a nearly impossible work load. Exam summary he sent out to 'help' us get ready was as follows: "study all the chapters in the textbook, all topics covered in class, every lab and assignment" WOW worst class ever!

Don't bother showing up to class. There is not connection between textbook and course content; all assignments come from the textbook. Will extend any due date, to a fault.

He is enthusiastic and friendly, but that doesn't help his teaching skills. He is very, very slack about assignment due dates, but also slack about returning them at a reasonable time. His accent is thick and he talks very fast, and he doesn't deviate from the slides during lectures. Terrible for learning the material, alright for just passing.

A great professor. While he does carry a strong accent, he's very helpful. Almost too helpful -- he'd practically do your assignments for you if you let him.

Extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and willing to help. Shows great enthusiasm for the material, makes you more interested in learning it. His courses are a lot of work, and he's very demanding, but he's usually more than willing to give extensions. Highly recommended!

Can barely speak english, his notes look like chicken scratch that is when you can read them, cause he talks into the blackboard and covers the notes with his body. The assignments are easy if you have someone else teach you.

Does seem to have trouble balancing what he teaches and does give very heavy assignments, but does compensate for it by giving students plenty of opportunities to get bonus marks and is very approachable. Thick accent, but gives great web notes.

I found him virtually incomprehensible. Maybe I sat too far back, maybe it was the lack of caffeine. Really nice guy, though.
