Comment:

Taking 1st year Java course she was chewing the same information (2/10 level of difficulty) a lot. But on exam in order to pass you need to deal with absolutely different information (15/10 difficulty). Sometimes it was hard to understand and follow her rubrics. Checks assignments, quizzes for 3-4 weeks. Overall, she knows what and how to teach.

Comment:

Wendi is hands down the best programming prof at Sheridan. Don't expect a free pass... If you work hard and do her practice exercises, you'll be earning top grades. Try finding the answers on your own before asking for guidence. She gets annoyed when people ask her questions that they could easily find in the course notes or previous level notes.

Wendi is a very effective instructor. I found her to be very approachable and helpful when I had specific questions. She obviously cares about the material and the quality of instruction at Sheridan, and I used her online notes as a supplement for other classes on more than one occasion. Thanks, Wendi!

Comment:

Great prof, a little tough on marking but great teaching overall. Exercises in-class are easy to understand but you are expected to do the homework exercises every day to be prepared for next class. You will learn, you may not pass with a very high mark, but you will learn the content well.

She is a very nice knowledge professor. she does give out quite a lot of assignment compare to other pro but you will learn at the end of semester. If you want to learn she is a good choice.

Wendi is a pleasent human being for the most part, often kind enough to smile and wave to you in the hallway but caustic enough to derail you for asking a question she thinks is irrelevant. Some may be put off by not being able to be friends with their professor and Wendi is not your friend. Attendance is mandatory unless you teach yourself.

Comment:

She can be tough, and she expects you to keep up with what she is doing. But its honestly because she believes you can do it. She gives time in class to ask one on one questions, and will ask you how your weekend was to boot. She is a fair marker and there is bonus marks you can earn throughout the semester on assignments and quizzes.

Comment:

Wendi's really not as bad as these reviews make her out to be. I had her for Java 1 and she explained everything very slowly and in great detail, and has very nicely detailed notes online if you miss something. Sometimes she'll make an odd comment, and her jokes don't always land, but she's far from the worst prof I've ever had.

By far the single most unpleasant instructor I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. She makes her lectures are hard to follow, is rude when you ask questions, doesn't respond to e-mails, has no sense of understanding or compassion, and is so ludicrously picky with marking that an A for any other prof is a C at best with her. Never again!

had wendi for java 2 and it was the most horribly thing I have ever experience. Shes a good programmer but she cannot teach. Just a warning for other students, she is worst than Ellan Bajcar. She wiil be nice the first few weeks, show you her cats and after that bam she just fk your stuff over.

Its clear shes a good programmer, but she can not teach. We asked for help on the first assignment, we were told to "get a tutor". She wouldn't even give us a guiding point. Types too fast and doesn't thoroughly explain what shes typing. This is my 5th year in a post-secondary education, and I never had an instructor so unhelpful.

Work overload starting from the very first class, continued throughout the entire semester. Talks as if she cares about her students, but over time and by example you will learn otherwise. Very snappy and rude towards most students when they ask questions. Talks and types fast, sometimes impossible to keep up. Good programmer, horrible teacher.

I had Wendi for Web Dev 2 in Spring 2015 and I enjoyed her class - she's quirky and funny. She will help you if you ask her, but I found her class too fast paced so it can be tough to follow her, especially when she's coding. She doesn't hold it against you for missing one or two classes and puts most of her exercises online. I would take her again

I decided to post this review to add another perspective to the most recent reviews. I took Wendi's class Fall 2014. Wendi is a very thorough teacher. She's clear and lectures well. Everything she covers will show up in tests and exams. No surprises. If you show up you will do well. I respect Wendi and was glad to have her as my teacher.

Wendi keeps good material to review and lectures are pretty good. On the bad side firstly she goes on about her cats and second life for way to long I wish she would just say class is over if you want to hear about my life please stay. The WORST is she takes off marks for the dumbest stuff like naming a file incorrectly and lost some of my work.

She will tell you she has 15 years of programing, but she is not good at teaching, and she is kind of nightmare to our class, we are down of her teaching. If you have choice ,go with other professor.
