He said the textbook wasn't required but just before the first test he starts referring to textbook and saying we should get it cause "all the notes are in there". He goes through slides too fast and some of the questions on tests are not in notes. His dry pessimistic humour gets old quickly.

Was anyone else bothered by the fact that he is a climate change denier? He used his lecture as a forum for propagandizing to young, impressionable students. I could barely stomach the one class and dropped it immediately.

His notes are longggggggggggggg. Papers aren't graded too harshly except on the citationsreferences and format part, info is marked easily. He can make a geo class somewhat funny, but he tends to repeat his jokes. Also, what he says doesn't always match his notes.

Can come off as crass but he's actually very funny and willing to help if you go see him. There are NO notes posted online. Lectures are content heavy and lots of things he says that aren't on the slides end up being exam questions. Bring a laptop for note-taking. No exam reviews so make good notes. Also no textbook for the class, yay! Great prof.

He has a very dry sense of humour and comes off as a little scary but when you actually talk to him hes helpful. He marks things exceptionally hard. Especially the written assignments. And his notes arent very clear

super nice guy. if you need anything go see him in person. his markers for his papers are hard. it's mostly based on format not the actual content other than intro and conclusion.

Mediocre prof, uses humor, can come off as a bit rude, but has been nice when I had any questions. Lots of notes which are not posted online. I found it more helpful to take notes on his lectures, rather than copying the slides word for word as it's less helpful when studying. The reports are easy, and if you study for the exam you'll do fine.

I took this as a writing course and have no regrets. His lectures are awesome and his humor helps you remember facts. Unless you can write extremely quickly, use a laptop for note taking. Marking is very fair. 11/10 would take another course with him. If he was my age, we'd probably be buddies.

Excellent Prof! Funny guy who enjoys teaching but tries to pretend he doesn't (that's part of why he's funny). Shows that he wants the student to do well in the course if you work hard in the labs and make an effort. Highly recommend taking his class!

He can seem rude sometimes, but he's also funny so it kind of makes up for that. You don't need the textbook, as he will tell you. He has lots of notes and moves quickly, so don't take your time. He won't go back either, so just keep ahead. His tests were easy and the final had half questions from the midterm! Easy A+ if you go to class!

Very good prof, I would take a class with him again in a heartbeat. Lots of notes to write though my hand actually went numb while writing notes once so be prepared on that front. Listen to him in class becuse some things he says will be on the exam

He uses the same research paper outlines and exams every year. No joke. Identical final exam every year and pretty well identical midterms. He also lets you keep your exam, therefore if you know anyone who's taken the class before and they still have their exams lying around, there's your A+.

He comes across as very opinionated and kind of rude, but if you talk to him, you see he is super helpful and has lots of valid points. Exam questions are right from lectures so study your notes and you'll do good. And for papers if you need help, ask him! More than helpful professor. Would def take another class with him!

Comment:

A pretty average prof, I only took the course because it was a W credit and I didn't want to take English or History. The final was pretty arbitrary. I did pretty well in this course, but I'm not sure if I learned a whole lot. He's nice enough.
