He's a sweet man but he just needs to retire. Speaks quietly, is not suited to teach a "new" media course. Friendly but possibly too friendly? He's definitely not a tough grader. If you're looking for an easy GLER, this is a good choice, although sometimes it can be painful to sit through. Figure skates in his spare time so that's pretty rad.

REALLLLLLLLY quiet and boring, gives a ton of work in class (2 hour class, he gives about 90 minutes of work), but only like 20 minutes to actually work on it. Seems like a very sweet and caring man, but almost seems shy and reluctant to speak to the class. At times he will put you to sleep, because of how quiet and depressed he seems.

Will would be better suited teaching something else, his technical skills are subpar, and his teaching abilities are worse. He gives zero guidance on projects, of which there are way too many, and doesn't take to discussion well. The amount of work for an intro level class was way too high. Would not recommend.

Was not the best professor I ever had. It was nice to be allowed to take the class, but in the end I regretted ever bit. Very vague and hard to work with, and will not give you ANY guidance. One thing that annoyed me it was his way or the highway. Had the class with 7 others, so it was hard putting on two events and have side assignments.

Will seems a bit odd, but that's him. He's a really nice guy, and willing to help you out if needed. There was a mini-project due for every class, so there was quite a bit of out-of-class work. Also had 3 major projects at the end, as well as a mandatory art gallery presentation. Good class though, learned lots, would recommend as a GLER class.

Nice man, he gives you clear grading criteria and expects you to do the work. Reasonable deadlines and is willing to answer questions and assist in any other way. I recommend this class as a GLER if you have the time to put into the work.

Coming in with a professional background, this professor was a nightmare to be around, if he would ever be there. Leaves students to their own accord and refuses to give guidance. Had to fight with him to get grades 2.5 months in. I was really looking forward to this class, however the guidance is not there. Needless to say, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

This man has a very interesting way of doing things, whether that be teaching, talking, or even class. I have taken several classes from him, and while he is difficult and the work can be extremely frustrating, I would not be where I am today without his support and guidence. I have learned things from him other professors will never dare to teach.

This is the first rate my prof Ive ever done, because I've never experienced a prof so bad that he was worth writing about before. He seems like a nice caring person, but my god is he inept at teaching new media. His outline is confusing and you end up learning next to nothing. Take portfolio with a different prof.

It was a lot of work to get through this class. Expect to put many hours into doing assignments, so with a heavy course load would not recommend. However, he was willing to help if you have questions, and he came to the uni on a weekend to explain something to people. LOTS of work, but really fun class!!

Took his class the second year of New Media. As a professional in the animation industry I can say without a doubt that this man is quite useless, on all fronts. If anyone reads this Avoid U of L if you want to become a animator... or anything CG related.

This class was essentially a "non-class" - there was very little direction or guidance. I still have no idea how I received the grade it did - the grading seemed 100% arbitrary. There were classes which he wouldn't even attend. This class was complete waste of time and money - I recommend avoiding him at all costs.

I fail to understand how this man still has his job; he is inappropriate, unprofessional, outdated & refuses to learn relevant software. This class is a complete waste of $; forcing you to learn a program that has not been used in the industry for over 6 years! He will talk about himself & his work giving little time for actual lab work. TERRIBLE!

If you want to waste your tuition money, enroll in one of Smith's classes. You WILL drop it like it's hot. Hahaha. Not kidding. Worst prof ever, killed my inner child. Doesn't know ANYTHING.

Smith's course was close to useless in the field of New Media. Stuck in his ideas of grandeur, he assigns assinine assignments that force you to breeze through many computer programs while learning as little working knowledge of them as possible. While I respect his attempt at having students create art, he provides no groundwork to begin with.

For me I was annoyed at how we were told to be as creative as possible, then jammed into his "in the real world you must please the client" business. Then he would be very careful not to give examples in case we would copy his example, thus making a lot of gray areas in what we could or could not do in order to "please the client" AND be creative.

Accepted as the worst of the worst in the department and yet teaches a required first year class. Tells one thing then expects another once the project is due. Spends all class (3 hrs)talking about himself/his work then gives no time to work on huge projects, we must do them on our own very limited time. Almost put me off New Media completely!!

Great for theory, but leaves as soon as he's done lecturing, so don't expect any technical help from him at all. Also tends to be unclear about what he expects from assignments, and will expect students to write a quiz and two essays in a mere 40 minutes every other class.

Definately knows what he's talking about (especially about himself), I learned a lot in this class, and his marking is easy! don't be fooled by his "expectations" plus I wrote an exam on every chapter out of the text. This is a university class
