Terrible Adviser, Uninterested and unwilling to help a student whom is struggling. An awful artist as well, seems more concerned with doing the bare minimum in order to keep his job.

Bill Jackson is a good professor. He doesn't pretend to love a student when he thinks they aren't performing well. He is very familiar with artists or movements the students may find helpful. My only gripe is his lack of technical help -- although when it comes to materials he knows his stuff, his advice on specifics is normally too brief.

Bill Jackson was the ONLY teacher i have ever had a serious problem with. HE wasn't just ineffective, his personality got in the way of doing even a minimally competent job. He would never last at a fine arts school like risd or mica. He is the only teacher I can ever say stymied my aspirations in a discipline.

Bill Jackson was not a very interesting nor helpful professor. He was also very accusatory and judgmental. We couldn't find him often while in class to ask questions and didn't seem to care. This was back in 1980! See other comments are similar!

The man is a fool. The way he looks at art and the art world is incredibly outdated. He is certainly a nice guy who knows a great deal about materials and techniques. But don't expect much from a guy who encourages clapping at the end of critiques. Sadly, he's the only painting professor here.
