I really enjoyed him. He would always go over any questions I had. He gave essays out before the test, so I knew what he was looking for. Overall, I would recommend him!

if you are interested in pol this class should be a breese. if not, it should still be relatively easy if you do what he asks of you. you realy dont have to even pay attention in lectures to get by. the textbook for this class is extremely helpful. he gives you plenty of resources to help you get an A. just know your stuff for the essay exams

this servs as a warning to everyone ,do not take his class because he will try to get over on you as far as your grades are concerned and also one of the coldest professors I've ever had. please everyone don't take him if you don't have to.

Very helpful and very pleasant to deal with. Accessible via e-mail. Study guides for tests are long, but very helpful. Tests consist of defining and giving the significance of 6 terms that you pick from 10. Then you have an essay question that is opinion that you must defend using info from class. How to set it up is also on the study guide.

Not all professors are good teachers. Dr. Laverty is very intelligent and well versed in all aspects of government. However his lectures consist of powerpoints with little dialogue with the students. His exams can be difficult especially if you are not participating in the class. He can be a harsh grader, but for the most part he seemed fair.

I found this to be an awesome class! Laverty wasn't exactly an incredbly awesome professor, but he was crystal clear in his expectations for the class and he explained things thoroughly. I absolutely love political science, so that's perhaps why I really enjoyed the class. I ended up with an A+ in the class, and found it to be overall easy.

Good overall teacher but demands that you put in a lot of time and effort into learning the materials. Do the work he requires and study from the powerpoints and you will do good in this class.

This class is super stupendous. I went into it thinking that he was going to ram some leftist agenda down my throat and out my rear, but instead he's so conservative he makes Ann Coulter look a little less like Ann Coulter. Lookout though if you play left field, he's biased against all lefties! Interesting guy though loves Metallica and Porkroast

This class was a nightmare. I love Poli Sci but with the way Professor Laverty taught this class, he made me wonder if it's what I really want to go into. I worked really hard in this class only to barely pull off a C! Everything is ridiculously easy and then he gives his exams which are VERY hard. GOOD LUCK with this class.

This has to be the worst class I have taken in my whole academic career. His lectuers are dry,his test are too hard and he can't load his powerpoints into progdata right. He should give the terms weeks in advance if he expects us learn them for the test

He gave us 3 in-class essay exams. The class was presented by powerpoint, which he puts on progdata for students to print out. The material was pretty dry, but he hands out current events articles to relate the class material. Some classes were fairly rough to bear (due to repetition), but I think I learned a lot.

Kindof a dry teacher...you have to want to be there. If not, his lectures can get boring. Class load is not bad, and tests are essay-style. Emphasizes group work.

this class is awesome! You can't help but get a good grade if you take the information he gives you and study just a little. He tells you what's on the exams and gives you the essays ahead of time to prepare for. Don't understand the negative posts... maybe they didn't want to study at all.

I absolutely loved this class and I thought the professor was excellent. I ended up receiving an A+ in the class...however a good chunk of that could be attributed to the fact that I LOVE political science. However, I must agree that I do think the tests were a bit easy for a college exam.

He's a hard teacher. All he does is read powerpoints to you in class but you're required to be in class otherwise you'll miss pop quizes and in class participation. Tests are probably the hardest I've ever taken so take the study guide and start early. Boring class but if you study you can get a good grade.

Lectures are very dry and not very specific to the information that he wants you to retain for the quizzes or tests. Exams consist of poorly manufactured multiple choice questions. The average in the class is typically 74%, nothing to brag about. Interesting class, poorly instructed.

Note-taking is easy in this class because he uses Power-Point presentations, and if you get and overall "A" before the final you get to skip the final exam completely. Just know key terms and you're pretty much good to go. Some find him boring but I loved this class.
