Loved Prof Lawton! Hated ENG248 because the exams were unreasonably hard, but papers helped keep my grade in the class above a C. Prof Lawton grades pretty easily and offers really good feedback on papers.

He was the grader in both my ENG 247 class and ENG 221 (Baseball Literature) class. He provides useful comments on papers. I am an English Major, so this may skew my opinion, but I thought he was a generous grader. In 247 I averaged a B+ on papers and in 221 I averaged an A- (having not read the material.) This guy gives amazing lectures! He really explains the books and short stories we read really well so you can understand. He obviously loves what he is teaching so that makes it easy to learn. His tests are a little tough, but if you come to class and take notes you should be good.

He gives a quiz weekly on the readings which aren't hard if you read. Talks alot about the books in class so its boring in class. 2 papers he assigns and midterm are easy. I'm a B student and got B's on both papers and midterm with minimal studying. He also looks for the text while going over the text so it waste class time which is a plus

Pretty easy class for a GenEd. Kinda boring at times. Only read half the books and got an A. Two papers are super easy and midterm & final are pretty easy as well. Just pay attention in class and you'll do fine.

There are weekly quizzes on the readings, two term papers, a midterm, and a cumulative final. All of which were not returned within reasonable times. Also, he lost several of our quizzes. He is very unorganized, boring and usually runs beyond class time. Overall I received a B in the class, but did not learn anything.

For a gened- it's not a bad class. I didn't read a single story after spring break and still managed an A-. He reviews all the readings the next class, and he gives quizzes every wednesday on the reading. Pay attention to the quotes he reads- you'll see them again.

This is one of the most boring classes I have ever taken! But it is a pretty easy class if you need to take it for a gened. I never read and got a B+ in the class. He summarizes all of the stories during class and gives quizzes ever wednesday. If you want an easy gened req. take lawton! (p.s. let him review your papers before you turn them in.)

He's a pretty nice guy. The class was super easy and the content was watered down a lot. He mostly summarized our readings so you really didn't have to read. As long as you show some interest and effort in the class an A is a sure thing. He's your typical slack professor, if you just talk to him he'll help you out. The mandatory attendance sucked.

Although he Lawton kept class interesting, and is a nice guy, it seems as though he is a pretty harsh grader. Final grade based upon 2 tests, 2 papers, and multiple reading quizzes. I had a 3.7gpa before this class and ended up with a B. I felt like the guy wouldn't give an A if my life depended on it. Nice guy, fun class, but tough grader.
