I had higher expectations for what his studio would be like. I wasted a LOT of time waiting on him to talk to me. I only had to pull one all nighter, so that was nice.

Make sure to get him in first year. You WILL have Bill Shell at one point: get it over with asap. He will teach you the basics well, but having him for 371/371 is stifling. Definitely have him first year, unless you love Mies van der Rohe, glass boxes and hand drafting wall sections. Note: likes the ladies & will leave coffee cups all over studio.

Kind of a creepy old-man type, if you're a girl (probably will hit on you). Be one with Mies, design a glass box, focus on craftsmanship, don't use any creative ideas (or curves!) and you'll do fine. Beware the lettering assignment ("that's not MY a"). Is a good teacher to have early: a good foundation to grow off of. Get it over with in 171-2.
