Teaches the wrong way to do something first, then the right way. Entertaining but horrible teaching style. Openly picks favorites. Told us before the exam he already knew our marks (gives you whatever mark he wants!)He might be cocky in front of a class but approach him one on one: he's timid! He ran a paper business into the ground before Brock.

I had Thurber 6 years ago, and I still think about his class to this day. He was an awesome prof, knows and tells it how it is. A lot of students get thrown off by that, and it's understandable. I don't know why Brock didn't renew his contract, that was a huge mistake.

He's now teaching at UOIT. Participation is worth 30% of your final mark, and, like someone said before, he plays favourites VERY HARD. Doesnt care if someone puts up their hand, will choose someone else if you are not one of his fave. Don't get me wrong, he's a good person, his teaching style and method NEED TO CHANGE.

Best prof in brock university history. Too bad brock is dumb and could care less about what the students want and let him go. This man is a self made man, and knows more about the real world than any text book prof will ever know.

He's a nice guy but he really needs to work on his clarity. His assignment outlines are unclear and leave students cinfused. His lectures are pretty good though.

Basically what Thurber does is judge what type of student you are through the semester and marks your assignments/midterms/exams accordingly. If he THINKS you should get a C then you'll get it whether you deserve it or not. He's horrible to approach too.

Lectures are more interesting than other profs'. It feels like he words things to purposely confuse students (ie. Porter's lecture). Helpful outside of class. Overall, good prof.

Difficult for a first year prof, he is far better in upper year classes, very approachable if your in year 3 or higher, he even brought our class out to cats caboose for free food and drinks. He freelances with lectures but gives you a better understanding of content then other profs.

Comment:
thurber's style is to teach through failure... i've learned the what not to do in business. Not only did he screw up our on-line tests... he based our major assignment on a faulty business idea that had nothing to do with the course... AND IT LOST thousands of dollars. What an idiot

I think peoples problem is they get mad at their own incompetence. Prof Thurber rocks... He has the right to be cocky because he knows his stuff. Buisness is not supposed to be easy. There is a difference between cocky and confidence. Thurber is approachable and will help you if you ask.

Full of himself. Thinks he has the best business experience while a random family friend or your bank manager can teach you better "business". Some ppl associates themselves with academia to market themselve, not sure if Thurber is one of them. Survival guide: get good notes, do well in your seminar and get on the TA's good side

If you want: a good mark; to not be humiliated; to not be confused about material and whats expected on tests/assignments, then don't take his class!! He's full of himself, and doesn't give you a better understanding of marketing.
