Comment:
Not the worst professor, but wasn't great. I felt that if I disagreed with his opinion or was unsure on my stance, he would try to convince me to agree with him/his opinion. Slow grader, takes about a month or so to get something back. Kind of boring discussion leader. Only thing that kept me in his section was time conflicts.

He's a brilliant, incredibly smart guy. He also cares about his students, and wants to see them improve and succeed. Despite being a pretty tough grader, he'll help you focus your essay if you shoot him an email. His feedback/comments on assignments are SO thoughtful and thorough. Genuinely good person, great sense of humor. Wish I could take again

Professor Waters offers brilliant insight into the book you read. He also offers very helpful writing criticism, and pushes you to be a better writer by making you write a lot. Sensitivity to the text is very important to him. He starts very good discussions that clarify many uncertainties in the texts. Definitely recommend him to anyone.

While Waters certainly won't be an easy A, he gives great feedback on your papers and you will come out a better writer. His prompts can be pretty vague, but if you shoot him an email he not only clears things up but pretty much tells you exactly what to write. Funny, down to earth, actually interested in his students. Favorite professor thus far!

Two tests determined the majority of the semester grade. Homework was graded on a check mark system. The class was made up of linguistic majors and complete beginners alike, so a fair grade couldn't even be dreamed of.

Professor Waters was by far one of my favorite professors at Boston University. He was really inspirational and although his classes were difficult, it was fun to try and understand all of the old German texts he gave us. Difficult class, but so worth it!

Will Waters is literally the greatest, ever. Mindblowingly intelligent, hilarious, understanding, helpful, and CHILL. Does translation take a while to do? Yes. Should you have every German dictionary known to man for the class? Probably. But the class is amazing, and Waters makes it even better. I would seriously take anything he teaches.

Brilliant professor, great readings. Class discussion was sometimes too lecture-y for such a small class, but he added lots of extras (music, pictures) to make it exciting. Very helpful in office hours, very attentive to students' needs. His widespread interests and passion show through to the class!

One of the all-time best professors at BU. Extremely engaging, interesting, and knowledgeable. Very fair at grading, too. Best of all, he's an extremely friendly and FUNNY guy. His class is a ton of work, and the papers and tests are very tough, but you learn so much, and every class is fun. Incredible professor and class.

Prof Waters teaches because he loves to teach, and those are always the best professors. I learned more in his class than I did in any of my other german classes combined. He is a strikingly brilliant man--I know my brain will just never function at that level of intelligence...

He is AWESOME. Great prof. I went out of my way to get my minor by only taking courses with Waters and Brittain Smith. STYLISTICS is the class that did more for my German than anything else -- and I lived in Germany for 7 years!!
