Comment:

Prof Diao is one of the best teachers I had; he really tried to give you chances to improve your grade and he told the most inspirational stories about his past in China. The amount of people who didn't respect him made me sick. But his accent really wasn't that bad. As long as you do most of the online homework and study guides, its an easy A!

Loved Professor Diao! He was always willing to help. Quizzes in class are easy, and you get to work on them with your peers. His study guides are very similar to the test but usually slightly different problems so be careful! He drops lowest test and replaces with webwork average which should be an easy 100.

Comment:

While he wasn't the worst professor ever, he was quite confusing. The tests are hard and the webwork can be confusing at times, but he is willing to help you if you need it. Attendance is mandatory because of the daily quizzes, so missing one can really hurt your grade.

He's the absolute best! He gives 4 question quizzes every class, but you get to work on them with the people around you. He assigns homework on a website called Webwork. I believe there's only 3 tests the entire semester and a final exam. He's always willing to help his students and he loves what he does! Has an accent, but not hard to understand

He is the best! He gives a quiz every class but you can take it with others and he will help you. His lectures are clear the majority of the time. He is really helpful with homework (puts help on moodle and answers questions in class). He also gives a study guide for the test that is the same questions just with different numbers.

If you suck at algebra like I do (you know who you are) this class will be hell because of the fast pace. Buy a TI-84 now and learn how to use wolfram alpha! Sit next to smart people to get quiz answers. If you already mastered algebra in high school, this will be a review and it really shouldn't matter who your professor is. Heavy Chinese accent.

He's a really nice guy. This class was easy to me because I placed out but had to take it anyway, so if you have not mastered Algebra it may be a little difficult because the class moves quickly. Go to class, you can miss about 6 classes before it affects your grade (he'll tell you 4). Do your homework, and everything will be fine.

I don't understand why he's gotten such bad ratings. I'm not the best at math however I still recieved a pretty good grade. Going to class is mandatory since he gives out quizzes daily for attendace (not hard at all), and he does an example right before the quiz. If you go to class, do your wedwork, and not bomb every test you'll do just fine!

Few people signed up for his MATH 3163 class in fall 2011. Class capacity is 45 and only 25 people signed up. By the end of the semester there are only 11 left. AVOID HIM.

He is very difficult and gets angry if you email him or contact him if you didn't ask about it in class. Webwork is due weekly instead of at the end of the semester. He tries to give you webwork help but a lot of time they are really bad examples and are a piece of cake compared to the one you have.

Not a harsh grader. I just got my first homework back. I missed some minor stuff and he gave me 98. Some homework questions are tricky, but you can ask him or find hints/solutions online. Homework grade will replace the lowest grade. Attendance counts for about 4% of total grade.

I suck at math, so Diao wasn't exactly easy for me due to his teaching style (kinda sparse on creating examples while going over the solving method). That said, doing the webwork helped a speck and working through the old tests helped a ton. Putting in extra hours to practice helped me to pass with a B. As for his his accent, it wasn't an issue.

Very thick accent, hard to understand some times. gives quizzes every class and uses them as attendance but he basically walks you through them and are 4 questions at most. easy to pass if you do your work and keep up with webwork. he doesn't use the book so don't buy one. again, not a hard class if you do your work and show up for class.

He was really helpful. He almost always extends the homework deadlines and the tests are pretty easy. There is a quiz every class for attendance but they are really easy. Also do the webwork because the grade replaces your lowest test. His accent makes him hard to understand but he's really actually funny. Would definitely recommend.
