I took all of his classes taught in Russian. While entertaining, his material has very little value. He spends most time insinuating that an author had bisexual tendencies and delving into the dubiously factual details of his romances. BUT, my biggest gripe is he forgets what he's taught to which class and it is thus IMPOSSIBLE to get a straight A.

Rest in Peace! This was one of the kindest, most intelligent & genuine men I have ever met in my life. Druzhnikov had a zest for life & I was blessed to take 4 years worth of classes from him. He brought culture, humour, charisma & class to UC Davis. He will be greatly admired & missed. Warmest Regards, Sandra Rose Stuart (Greatful former student

I've taken every class this man has taught in the past 2 years & I think he is absolutely FABULOUS. His lectures are always fascinating, readings dont need to be done, and his tests are easier than any test I've EVER taken(includding elementary school). Though he asks obscure questions, it is SUPER easy to predict whats gonna be on it. He tells u!

My girlfriends Russian grandmother can speak better english than this guy. If you aren't russian, don't take classes from this guy. His tests are frikken rediculous too, they ask about the most random small things ever. its really easy to cheat in his class though, and i dont think he even cares if you cheat.

His class on censorship in Russia was very interesting and very clear to understand. If you read the books, come to class to take notes, you'll get an easy A in that class.

The hardest RUS class I have ever taken. There is always a lot to memorize, but material is interesting and very useful in life (this is a sincere comment). As always, Druzhnikov has a lot of class and LOTS of respect for his students. He is just a great guy and way hot for 70+ !!!

Below is very true... but it was fun going to class and his final wasn't so bad either (or was is because I studied more?)

Very interesting class, but then again it is Druzhnikov's credo(random stuff on tests, even stuff from previous times when he taught the course)that makes it a bit painful experience. I will tell you the truth- I love the class and simply going to it is fun, but the tests... STUDY!!!

It was more of russian history and movie-watching than russian culture, but overall an interesting class. Druzhnikov tells interesting stories and is very funny. He is always calm and respectful, but his tests can be very hard. But in the end u get an A.

He is a good guy and the class is fairly interesting but his test questions are completely random and unpredictable and you are tested on very minor, unimportant details. Its not a hard class but going to lectures is a must.

Easy teacher, but his tests are based on most of his lectures. The subject matter can be interesting at time. Become his friend and it should be easy. Fun guy, really easy going.

The course sucked ass. It had nothing to do with writing, but more with the structure of literature and folklore. Pretty boring, if you ask me. The guy himself is cool and laid back. So if you're into the whole lit and writing thing, then it's an easy A.

Professor Druzhnikov is amazing. He has lived a crazy life. He keeps a good sense of humor and is quite accomadating to his students. However, Russian 102 isn't an interesting class and we didnt learn anything about actually writing in Russian.

Read my lips, you speak russian = you get an a. You don't - you have to break your neck for your a. If you're taking an upper-division class taught in russian, the workload is nothing. If it's an english class, you better be damn interested in the subject
