Comment:
First of all, her lecture is extremely disorganized. In addition, she does not know how to give students a crystal clear assignment guideline, and does not know how to balance assignment. Thirdly, even though she always claims herself as an open minded professor, as an International student, I felt like being treated unfairly in her class.

I absolutely love professor Jahiel. She genuinely cares about her students and is incredibly passionate about the environment. She is a bit disorganized, but she is not as bad as others say. If you are interested in the subjects she is teaching and if you are open to a lot of discussions and participation, then you will love her.

Comment:
Dr. Jahiel is one of the most brilliant professors I've had at Wesleyan. Any class with her is guaranteed to be tough, though. Readings are heavy and are frequently at a higher level than what can be fully understood by students. You'll learn a lot, but work hard doing it.

Comment:
Jahiel is a great person but she's frequently late to class, and fairly absent minded due to a few concussions that she's had. She genuinely wants her students to do well, but doesn't have great communication of expectations, and will make frequent changes to the syllabus

Comment:
She's uncompromising within her personal thought, a mixture of classical Marxism and liberal self-contradictory environmentalist nonsense ("Nature doesn't exist and is an invention of the rich"/"Your consumption matters but not really but it does.") Discussions are doomed to fall into mumbling about pie-in-the-sky policy comparisons. Unorganized.

I think professor Jahiel is not that bad as others said, she is a little bit unorganized but it has things to do with the recent concussions she suffered. Don't be so mean people. I like her class about environment.

Dr. Jahiel is a great professor. Her class is really interesting--as long as you actually do the work, you will learn a lot from the class. Forget about what the complainers say, if you just go into talk to her, you'll see that she's sweet and sincerly concerned with her students' progress.

This class drove me insane. She is highly disorganized, show up to class late (which is fine) and holds you late (which is not). The whole class was a disaster, and I spent every minute of every class period regretting that I didn't drop it. The group projects were alright, but her guidelines on assignments are pretty weak. I don't recommend her.

Okay like many others I am no Jahiel fan. She is very, very unorganized and one-sided when it comes to discussions. That being said, she does know a lot about what she is talking about.Yes she is a hard grader, but she does push you. If you don't have to take her courses, then don't. If you have to take one you can suffer through and learn somethin

Terrible. She only expects you to agree with you or she will flat out say "no." She is unorganized and late, but still expects you to go above and beyond. She is rude and above all picks favorites. She didn't know more than half of the student's names in my class by the last day. She is the worst

Never prepared for class, unorganized, unclear in her expectations, 10 min late every day and then has mandatory class Sunday. She picks favorites, only likes these whom agree with her. I recommend trying to find a way to agree with her or your grade will sufferer. She always seems willing to help, but she rarely has time. The class is one-sided.

She is a horrible teacher. You must agree with what she says, and any opposing viewpoints she will find a way to disagree with. She is scatterbrained and is always late to class. She is a really picky grader. I don't know why she is the head of the ES department, but she definately doesn't deserve it. Take Dr. Harpers classes!

I took enst. 103 and 260 with Jahiel. She's kind of a hard grader; she looks for good writing skills as much as content. She is unorganized, and she doesn't know how to euphamize (she will just say "no. you're wrong.) If you read and participate though, she'll like you. And she'll help if you ask for it.

I really liked Prof. Jahiel. She is very unorganized, but very passionate about the environment. I learned a lot from her. At the same time, I felt like her "discussions" were very onesided and that she was leading the students to the answer that she wanted. Overall, she's really nice and will help if you ask

OBSCENELY DISORGANIZED!!! STAY AWAY from her classes if you value a professor who values their students. Definitely a professor that needs to constantly be reminded about what their job entails.

This course is a wonderful mix between political science and environmental studies. Professor Jahiel is a nice woman and even though she may expect a lot from a student she will work with them to attain it. I would recommend this course.
