I couldn't read what he wrote on the board or feedback on anything graded and not many students were able to finish exams within the 50 min period especially in MTH 182 and wouldn't scale them. He does offer extra credit, but they are just programming assignments and really hard questions on exams. Avoid him and Prof Fine for both discrete classes.

I have not gone a single class without erasing my notes because of how many mistakes he makes while teaching. He makes mistakes creating exams, he even made mistakes writing emails to the whole class and sent two revisions once. Professors should not be making this many mistakes so frequently.

He has less than great handwriting, and he sometimes mumbles while giving a lecture, but is overall a brilliant mathematician, and it's clear he knows what he's talking about. He gives plenty of opportunities to do extra credit, and is frequently available for extra help, and will explain the process in-depth. Ask questions and you'll pass easily.

I love professor Hausknecht. I have taken two classes with him and am looking forward to another next semester. He is a very intelligent and passionate man but to get the most out of his classes and lectures requires student work also. He really cares about his students and will do everything he can to help them especially if you are kind to him.

As others have mentioned he makes mistakes quite often when writing examples in class and his handwriting is hard to understand at first. His teaching is alright when teaching to the entire class but he's excellent if you approach him with questions after class or during office hours. He'll make sure that you fully understand the material.

Most difficult class I've ever taken when it comes to trying to understand the lessons. He's so hard to understand, scribbles on the board and makes a lot of mistakes during lectures, and the tests are really difficult if you aren't able to teach yourself.

He will not give you a make-up for a quiz even if you're in the hospital. He doesn't care. He gets rude when you call him out on it. Oh and he puts the wrong material on the board when he lectures. Be prepared to learn from the book only. Worst professor I've ever had.

I believe Professor Hausknecht is the best math instructor that Umassd has. He cares about the students, if they care about themselves. If you need help, he is there for you.

He makes mistakes in class and doesn't notice. His hand writing is horrendous, makes it hard to take notes. It is difficult to understand him and he losses his train of thought often. Testquiz are reasonable if you know the material. He is a very nice guy though and know his stuff, but a terrible teacher. Expect to learn it all by yourself.

Do NOT take his class. Constantly makes mistakes. Multiple times taught a full lesson then at the end told the us it was wrong. Other times he won't admit he is wrong and blames students. Doesn't explain how to do problems either. Hard to understand. Expects everyone to be as smart as him. Save yourself the trouble and avoid him at all costs.

Really difficult to follow his train of though: starts thoughts over several times. Seems really intelligent though. As far as the book: you won't need it. Honestly, the material's simple enough that if you show up for the quizzes, test reviews, and exams, you'll probably do fine. P.S. it's easier to pay attention if you only pay half attention.

Speach problem is not too bad most of the time, sometimes it is unbearable and I have walked out of class. He tends to restart sentences 5-6 times before finishing them. Theres no doubt he is extremely smart but he teaches like he is in a rush and it can be tough to keep up.

Kinda sounds like Tommy Chong and tends to repeat concepts. Math oriented people should have no problem. Very willing to help you if you don't understand a concept and if you write down everything on the board you will have the formulas you need for the tests. Textbook isn't necessary for calc as the homework is online. Brilliant but awkward.
