Dr. Aveni is a tough teacher, but also a great teacher. His tests are composed of lecture and readings from the textbook. If you want to learn the material then I highly recommend taking him.

Comment:
He is a good teacher but his lectures are very long. His notes are very straightforward but his tests are 50% notes and 50% book which you will never even open in his classroom. A lot of it is self help. If you have any questions he'll answer them. Good teacher, but tests are challenging and impossible if you don't read the chapters in detail.

Comment:
This class is not easy. He is a very helpful teacher and easy to understand, but his tests are HARD. Half of the material covered on the exams are small details from the book and the other half is from lecture. He does offer extra credit (up to 4 points) that goes on your final grade.

This teacher was very fair, the tests were very hard, and it was 100 percent participation, I did okay on the tests but I did complete all of the discussion questions! (it was an online class) the class was great, and I did learn alot!

This was an online class, and it does require 100% participation, but it is worth it. I learned alot and even changed my major to SOciology

Show up for class, take notes, and sudy his handouts. Study for 2-3 hours before you take the exam, this way the info is fresh on your mind, but you should review after every class as well. If you try to cram you will fail, because his tests are too tricky. He gives little extra credit so if you fail a test your grade goes into the dirt. (-__-)

great teacher, but be careful w/his tests. He tends to give questions that are found in previous chapters only to see if you are retaining the info learned. Study hard and you'll do well.

If you can avoid this stigma, don't take his class. He is so lame and hard to understand. He is not very helpful and likes to fail students. He should be teaching at Harvard or Yale not JSU.

Very Hard! He is easy if you are a nerd! He talks too fast, and hard to understand. He is very in to the subject material and expects you to be too! If you can keep from taking him, DON"T!! Tries to make the exams extremely hard.

I don't recommend this professor for an "easy A". He takes it seriously and expects you to too. His tests are TOUGH, and the notes from class barely coincide with it. If you want to make an A, be sure to read the ENTIRE book and know it by heart
