Comment:
Dr. Aldroubi becomes more likeable throughout the semester. He sometimes makes mistakes, but he's very open to our reminding. He explains concepts clearly and always emphasizes important ideas. Tests are the most straightforward ones I've ever seen, so you can get a good grade even with minimum efforts, but you can learn a lot if you're motivated.

I would agree with people saying that he's caring, but I don't think he's a very good professor. For analysis, halfway through the course he decided to let the students give lectures instead of teaching. He teaches straight from the textbook, so class is optional. Comes to class unprepared and wastes time getting lost in proofs. Wouldn't take again

Dr. Aldroubi is probably one of the most caring math professors you can ever expect. What he cares about is whether or not you understand the material rather than what grade you eventually get. The lectures are not perfect--they sometimes moves slowly and can be little disorganized--but at the end of the day, you can understand every concept.

Great teacher. Didn't like teaching Diff Eq & Lin Alg. He will help as much as you need outside of class and during class. His tests are very straightforward and his expectations are clearly highlighted in his review tests. Homework is very useful as a grade booster and as a studying tool.

Dr. Aldroubi is a wonderful teacher. He won't move on until everyone understands each concept. Homework is just enough to understand the material. Tests are not bad (study the practice tests). He said he would not teach 2400 (DiffEq + LinAlg) again because there was too much content for 1 semester, and I agree with his choice. Highly recommend.

Was good teacher. Easier than what I could tell about the others, really cared about the students and tried to become familiar with us. Busy guy, but he does have office hours and loves to teach during them. Lectures are pretty nice, his hands are literally coated in chalk at the end of a lecture from how much he writes on the board.

Professor Aldroubi is extremely nice and helpful. He always started class by asking if he had any questions, which really shows that he wants his students to fully learn the material. He always emphasizes truly understanding the material rather than just memorizing tricks on how it work problems which some students may not like, but I preferred it.

Dr. Aldroubi is a really cool guy, and makes class interesting. Homework counts for 35% of the grade (pretty easy to make 100s on them). Tests are not too difficult, but minor mistakes will get lots of points off. Overall a great prof.

Aldroubi is a mathematical genius which sometimes translate into him assuming students understand something when they don't. Nonetheless, he is very easy to ask questions of and super helpful in office hours. Takes the time to know each student's names and also provides extra help sessions right before exams. Great professor!

This is my favorite math teacher to date. Aldroubi genuinely cares about teaching and coveys the material brilliantly. He covers exactly what is in the book but you won't even need to read it if you pay attention in class.

Professor Aldroubi is a rare exception to Vanderbilt's cryptic Math department. His tests are fair and based on class material. Homework is weighted heavily, and he'll help you with the problems if you go to office hours. Lectures are clear, entertaining, and get you interested in the material. Take this guy; he actually wants to give you an A!

Prof. Aldroubi is wonderful. Only weakness lies in his typos during simple computations; these occur because he focuses on the big picture, which he strives to communicate to his students. Besides these typos, he never once made a mistake. The man knows math, and will teach you. Linear is the basis for higher math. Glad I took it with Aldroubi.

Though the material was challenging, Aldroubi was very helpful - he's the only math professor I've had who will pause during a lecture to let the students work out a problem to make sure what he's saying is clear. He's an extremely good mathmetician (he can graph anything in 3D in his head) and he genuinely likes to teach.

I have had significant trouble with calculus courses. Prof. Aldroubi is quite the exception for the Vandy math dept: he cares about his students' understanding of the material and their performance in his class. He is extremely understanding and helpful. Go to class, do the homework, and talk to him if you have trouble.

TAKE 175 WITH ALDROUBI. Im ashamed that my grade is below an A right now b/c he is such a good teacher. There is 1 HW assignment every week instead of quizzes, covering exactly what will be on the test (except test problems are usually even simpler). Did very badly on one test (my fault) and he re-weighted the test and the final to help my grade :)

aldroubi is by far the easiest 175 teacher, i would recommend rearranging your entire schedule to get him instead of rafter. tests are just like the homework problems and he's really excited to teach you math. doesn't put up useless proofs.
