what an absolute g. some people didn't like his teaching style but I found him absolutely hilarious, informative and actually caring. just don't ask questions that he JUST explained like a dingus head! do all the practice tests 3 times, and complete all the homework and you should be fine. 10/10 teacher, felt like he was a mentor and believed in me

Your grade consists from 4 exams and 1 final. Doesn't drop the lowest and doesn't give any extra credit or exams retake. Explanations are not detailed and that's why not clear. Doesn't assign and collect any hw (students have to find problems to practice from book on their own). Problems in the book different from his exam, notes don't help much.

Comment:

Emerson is a great teacher, he won't take the short route and gives you the tough questions so you are prepared to be able to handle any sort of problem that he may put on the test. Practice exams are given a week in advance. Don't skip class, he gives alternative methods that aren't in the book for solving questions that makes the class easier.

Horrible professor. Your grade depends on the 5 exams you take during the course. Doesnt explain too well and expects you to know the answer. Doesnt interact with the class neither and if you need help in the class, I wouldnt recommend getting help from him, but from the SI for that course. Good luck if you take this professor. Youll need it.

Good teacher, not great. Super cool guy. Tests are very long and difficult. Only three exams and the final. No dropped exams. Watch out for the series test.

Is an okay teacher. Handed out syllabus with two weeks of class. Laughs at own jokes. Fast paced class for winter. No electronics but classmates had phones out. Singled out as I had a laptop out turned off. Found homework to be more helpful than his lectures. Quizzes make up class. Started off with roll call moved to a role sheet. You could leave.

Professor Emerson is a very fair and reasonable professor. You know exactly what he expects. He gives exam samples before the test which makes a great deal in preperation. Make sure to do lots of homework, although its not collected - otherwise you wont pass. He is caring and kind although might seem rough at first.

Math is my worst subject and Prof. Emerson helped me get through it. He was the best math teacher I ever had. He has a steady and clear way of building your skills. If you pay attention and put in the time, you will succeed.

Horrible! Had to withdraw from his class. His notes/lectures are unorganized so you never really know what section/chapter you're on. He is very rude and doesn't seem to care about his student. Prof Emerson also has a monotone voice. Take someone else and avoid him!

I like professor Emerson very much, including the way he teaches us as well. I am pretty sure that every question in his lecture has his purposeso it is no problem to get a good grade if you understand every question he talk about and the questions on your sample exam papers.

Professor Emerson is by far the best math professor I ever had at SMC, really helps students when they don't understand the problems. Just don't speak when he's teaching because it is one of his pet peeves other than that best math professor ever, if he were to teach every math course I would keep taking him.

one thing I disliked about the class, he sounds monotone making it harder for me to pay attention. Goes fast, expects you to know algebra concept good. Hw is optional. Tends to cram exams up. No Extra credit. 5 exams total. this class was very difficult. He does not reply back to email. So don't ever email him. I suggest another profesor.

His class (math 2) consists of 5 Exams. 4 tests that are worth 75% and final 25%. If you're not good at math don't take FAST PASTE takes forever to grade exams. if you can teach yourself & read the book go for it. If not I suggest Doko. Hw is not mandatory. Gives "sample" exam day before exam to help you. Hope this help.

Whatever he teaches does not make sense at all. Emerson does not know how to talk to students and is condescending and rude at many instances. Will not answer questions emailed to him, or at his discretion.

Professor Emerson assigns no homework. Textbook is used for practice problems, he expects you to do the problems, but he never checks if you did them or not. A total of 4 exams that's worth a total of 75% of your overall grade and the final is worth 25% of your overall grade making it a total of 100%. Class not mandatory, nothing makes sense.

Gives great lectures. Informative. He makes it very clear what is gonna be on the test and exactly what you should do on the test. Engages with the class and has a good stage presence. Really knows the material. If I could, I would take his class again. Make sure you do the homework.
