Prof. Irvine is an ok professor. He is very arrogant, however, and seems to enjoy embarressing people he catches not paying attention in class. Be careful about goofing off. Class is boring, he just stands up there and talks. Loves the sound of his own voice. Bad TA's. Overall not the worst class, but definitely not enjoyable

For an annoying required class, Dr. Irvine makes it pretty interesting. If you do the work and pay attention (like you're supposed to), it's an easy A. He isn't the best at picking TA's, but he himself is really helpful. If you aren't getting good grades, trust me, go to him for help. I'm glad I did because I went from D's and C's to A's and B's.

Dr. Irvine is a good professor for Soc of Everyday Life. The texts, whether its whyte or goffman, are pretty much useless. Just know the concepts, and examples of them because that's what you do on the tests. The only downside is that he grades the hell out of your assignments, exams, and take home portions of the exam. Good class, with some effort

BORING. Belabors examples more than anyone I've ever met in my entire life. The class is ridiculously easy; go to lecture and you're fine, but it's also the most boring class I've taken in three years. Also, I haven't done a group project since tenth grade, and the one Irvine's assigned about puts me in mind of tenth grade. Avoid him.

Dr. Irvine is bound to get some bad reviews for this class. And some of them will be deserved. He didn't hand out guidelines for any assignment more than 48 hours in advance. In order to get good grades on the assignments, read through the guidelines (when you get them) and be sure to write about every single aspect that he asks you to. He's ok.

I don't think he's teaching this anymore, but he was OK. He enjoys telling stories to illustrate points. speaks slow and skirts questions that he can't answer. his TA was much more stimulating (and without him, the class probably would have blown). basically he just goes through the reading every lecture. if you read the book, you'll be fine.

The guy likes to hear his own voice. he never shuts up and he pretty much repeats the same thing over and over. if HE grades your paper or exam, he grades it a lot harder than necessary, especially when your information is right out of his lecture outlines.
