I took 3 courses with Dr. Lane 5 years ago. He's the type of professor that doesn't want you to memorize text, but he wants you to analyze it, meaning he wants you to think. I felt as if I had achieved a great deal after that class but I almost had a nervous breakdown getting an A and my brain was sore, but I felt as I had lived during those times.

He is a really challenging teacher. I would not recommend taking his class unless you love history and it's your major. All of his tests are straight essays that are term i.d's so basically memorize every term he teaches. He is a very good teacher but not easy. Take an easier history teacher if you just want a good grade.

Dr.Lane may be a bit dry at times, but he knows what he's talking about. If you love history, you will love his class. I think behind that serious face is a really nice guy. I would you could see more of it in the classroom.

He's a smart guy and knows what he is talking about, but sometimes the lectures don't flow but if you take notes on it and ask him about the exam a few classes before to try to get a few ideas at him for when he creates the test.

If you can sit through Dr. Lane's crazy lectures that are completely out of order and manage to take notes and sort them out later then you'll do fine. Selling point: He lets you use an index card on tests!! Thank GOD!
