Comment:
Molumby is just ok. It was almost comical how he rambled so much that we barely got through 5 slides during lecture, but the section was 80-130 slides long. He would often disregard use of the mic even though we were in one of the biggest lecture halls on campus. Lab was boring but easy. His exams are half common sense and half examples from slides

3 Exams, 1 Final optional to replace lowest Exam score, 2 papers on 2 journals, iclicker points and class is curved. Exams are different and not so straight forward from the lecture, there are only few questions from the lecture slides. Exams are also graded incorrectly so keep them and double check. Professor is cool. Get as many exams from friend

Labs were easy but pretty boring. 2 lab reports and 2 oral presentations. Lectures were a joke. Random tangents and 300 slides per chapter that you needed to know for the test. Final is optional. I guessed on so many questions on the test and most I've never seen in my life. Glad I'm done and escaped with a B

Underrated professor, if you're trying to learn stuff that isn't necessarily on the exam. Anything on the powerpoints was fair game for the exam, but as long as you knew them you'd be good. Lectures were off topic, but very engaging. He clearly loves biology and I learned a lot of interesting stuff from him.

Not rly sure how I feel about him. He rambles on in class about god knows what and half of the time its not even related to the class. Each powerpoint he posts has 100+ slides and he expects you to know it ALL. Good thing is exams are all based off of powerpoints buuuuut he pulls random little details from them that youre rly not likely to remember

He uses iClickers for attendance, which is out 20 points. He also puts a lot of clicker questions, so it's fine if you missed 2 or more lectures. The exams are very specific to his slides. NO quizzes. The labs are easy A.

Worst professor I have ever had at UIC he expects the class to read & memorize 300+ slides for each exam which is ridiculous considering its a 100 level course he phrases the questions in way that will confuse u & make u answer incorrectly, sidetracks constantly during lecture making it difficult for students to stay focused & VERY HARD powerpoints

Oh man, this guy... First of all, his lectures are absolutely worthless. I had a friend who never showed up to lecture and still passed the class by memorizing previous exam answers. The teacher's grading criteria for lab assignments were convoluted and ambiguous. The teacher constantly went off on tangents during lecture and fell behind on notes.

His tests are a joke, they are all trick questions like its designed to make you fail. He is also so opinionated and bashes any beliefs that aren't the same as his and makes the class feel more like his own views instead of the actual science. Would never take again

I would not take this teacher if he was the only one offered at the University. Honestly, go to another school to take the class, because he's going to make it a lot more difficult than it needs to be, and every single one of his questions on his test are trick questions. You will likely second guess yourself and get the questions wrong... BOL!

If you want someone that tries to trick you ON EVERY SINGLE TEST QUESTION, and wants to jeopardize your grade take this guy. His method of teaching is not helpful at all. It does not prepare you for the tests. The way he lectures is a 1 in terms of difficulty, but the test question he asks is 5 in terms of difficult out of 5.

As a normal dude I'd give him a 4/5, as a prof I'd give him a 1/5. Way too detail oriented and you have to memorize every single slide to do well on exams. His way of teaching is him babbling on about random stuff, so I'd say you shouldn't bother going to class but he also does iclicker whenever he feels like it and it will count for participation.

This is an extremely terrible teacher. His personality is great, but his teaching skills are preposterous. You will likely not get an A in this class even if you read every single slide in his powerpoints. He expects you to know every detail. It is unfortunate that he's making many people hate this subject, because of his extremely poor teaching.

Very passionate about what he was teaching which made the class so much more interesting. Plenty of freshmen might complain about difficulty, but his class is completely fair in terms of grading. Never did any reading, but I went to all the lectures and took detailed notes. If you want an A, you need to actually put in the effort. Easy labs.

Dr. Molumby is the WORST Biology professor I have ever had at UIC. His lectures basically consist on he talking about where he has traveled to and how climate change is affecting us. His tests are WAY TOO SPECIFIC. He expects you to memorize over 300 slides for one exam. TERRIBLE experience. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Definitely one of the most intelligent professors I've ever had. Really knows his stuff. Material isn't difficult, just listen and don't ask dumb questions that are obviously on the syllabus. Super chill guy. Kinda wanna have a beer with him in the least creepy way possible.

Professor Molumby brags how he's been using the same slides for about 18 years for his Bios101 class. He had a population that said 6 billion from the year 2000, and proudly pointed that out to prove he never changes the slides since. He expects you to study every slide. His tests are detailed. Memorize everything on his lecture slides!
