Personally I loved Dr. Scholz's class, the only bad part was there were only 3 tests and no real homework, so unless you really knew your stuff you didn't have a chance to see how you'd do on the test beforehand. Very tough grader, make sure you put in every detail! But I learned a lot and really like him personally.

I took this class Wtr Qtr 2014 and the class was great! The tests are pretty easy. Just make sure to study the study guides he gives. He offers extra credit and make sure to check canvas for the plus group for questions!!

Great prof, would recommend him. You always know what to expect on tests, he doesn't try to trick you. Notes in class are always useful for the exams. If you talk with him one on one he is very willing to help. Nice guy, show up to class and take notes-use the book for more difficult chapters and concepts. He gives you study guides which help a ton

I had him for all three bio 170s, at first I had a difficult time paying attention to him. But, once I got past that I found he was actually very interesting! And a thorough lecturer. Pay attention to his study guides and you will do well.

Yes, his lectures are 98% of the time incredibly boring, but the other 2% are great. His physiology lectures are very thorough, even covering the history of physiology as a science. He's really nice, too--helpful and kind. Stick with his study guides for tests and you'll be fine, especially if you do the extra credit HW. Great singing voice, too;)

SO boring... All of his lectures use the pictures out of the book and a projector. Knows what he is talking about, but can't reduce it to understandable terms for a first level course. Study guides are very helpful.

Okay, the bad stuff first--his lectures are incredibly boring and tend to lack depth, and he doesn't always stick to the book's material for tests. That being said, Dr. Scholz is very nice and a fair grader, and his tests are easy if you follow his study guides and write down everything from the slides he shows in class. Overall, a decent prof.

He graded fairly. He would give you a good heads you what would be on the exam if you listen carefully. He will repeat that info twice. Has 15 extra credit that are relevant to what will be on the exam in some way. Has 3 essay Q, matching, and muiltchoose on the exam. Best teacher ever

Not the most exciting, but still a great teacher. He gives a study guide that has all possible essay questions - 3 out of ~9 of these WILL be on the test. The rest of the study guide helps with other questions that might appear on the test. He doesn't ask trick questions and most are answerable simply by memorizing the notes.

Awesome Teacher. Test questions are usual general ideas and he gives you a list of possible essay questions!!! most of the test is T&F and multiple choice. His lectures are a little on the boring side though, but what can you expect from biology.

Terribly boring monotone droning .... I stopped going to class because I got nothing out of it -- I just used the textbook, and aced all of his tests, which are ridiculously easy (about half of the tests are multiple choice or true/false questions). He's a terrible teacher though, and doesn't know biology very well, but his class is simple.

He absolutely loves teaching this subject! As long as you can read the book you will do fine, but his lectures are very enjoyable :) Would highly recommend!
