Prof: Alan Singer is by far the best professor at Hofstra university. I had Alan twice when I attended Hofstra the first time in 2016. Alan was not contented with my English because he wanted me to succeed and accomplish my goals. This man had helped me to be articulate and professional writer before I took other required classes. I admire him!

Dr. Alan Singer is by far the best professor I have ever encountered and I attended top Universities. Alan is more then an experience he is the reason that many people have jobs throughout the city and he goes out of his way to help just about anyone. I am disappointed that some students would use this site for retaliation against a bruised ego.

Alan is by far best professor I've had at Hofstra. He genuinely cares about his students and he wants you to do well. Teaches in a way that makes you actually care about the subject. Most of the papers he assigns are reaction essays. He's an easy grader and it's pretty much impossible to fail his class. 10/10 would recommend.

Professor Singer ask some tough questions (ex: essay prompt "solve the immigration crisis") and it can be a bit tough for non-philosophy students. However, he is a fun professor who genuinely cares about student understanding. He wants you to do well and be happy in his class. I highly suggest taking this discussion section. Great professor.

Leads very open student based discussions (expect to be called on at random). Leads interesting discussions/lectures. You get a few papers, but he's an easy grader (pretty much skims papers unless you "raise a red flag"). Really cares about his students; so sweet and fun.

This man will teach you anything and everything that you could ever hope to learn about teaching social studies. He's the most highly qualified person that could possibly teach you about teaching social studies, and he is without a doubt the person who helped me the most on my way to receiving my degree and certification. Highly recommended.

Prof. Singer is my favorite teacher I've had at Hofstra. His points of view, while they are opinionated, will teach you so much. He is reasonable, kind, and will listen to you. His Anthropology class, which I am in, is so interesting. His midterm was a 500 word essay, and his final is a 5 page essay. There is no hard work that has to be done !

Really good professor and is always there for his students. Very liberal in his views but he respects yours. He actually took a very controversial subject from my paper that he discussed in class and it went over very well. Very pleased with how he ran the class and he is definitely a must have professor if you are going to Hofstra for education.

Easy classes and common sence. There is not really a lot of work like some people state. He asks what you are going to expect to do when you're teaching. MOST of his work is common sence and can be done if you use a little brain power. I disagree with everyone about do not disagree with him. I argue with him all the time.

Alan is a excellent professor. Very opinionated but fair. He is very brilliant most who fear to voice their opposing beliefs lack the strengths of character and conviction that Alan has. I found him fair. I am a Rastafarian and he an atheist but I still received good grades. If unsuitable for the profession he will act. Be reliable. He is heav

Great professor! I really learned a lot. I would love to be half as good a teacher as Alan. But some of the things he teachers seem easier said then done. He appears to know everything about history but it can be overwhelming at times in comparison to what you know. You need to do your work but not a hard grader. Attendance is mandatory. No tests

Alan is a self proclaimed marxist/athiest with a passion for social justice and action. He facilitates intriguing discussions and is highly respectful of those who see the world differently, as there are not many who see it like Alan. He is a thoughtful teacher, and practices his teaching methods. Very intelligent. VERY funny. Best prof at Hofstra.

Singer has a lot of spunk and knowledge about History and he makes a lot of sense. When I took his class I thought he was out of touch and crazy! but now going into my 3rd year in the NYCBOE I can see what he was saying and how it apples to the students...Keep on doing your thing!
