I loved this class. It was pretty easy and straight forward and the professor is really cool. You wont use the textbook so dont bother buying it! He gives you all the readings you need. Just a few papers to write but they were not too bad. Take this class!

If you like structure, accurate deadlines, and a detailed syllabus, this is NOT the class for you. He is a really nice guy, easy to talk to, and willing to help, but the organization is atrocious. His deadlines on SAKAI were really misleading, and the assignments themselves were confusing.

Awesome teacher, easiest class this semester, maybe ever. Really nice guy, makes you think about the system of education. Take a class of his, it's well worth it and an easy A.

I've taken 4 classes with Alan and got an A in all his classes. He is an amazing professor! Definitely off-beat as everyone else said. Everyone should be required to take his classes. He makes you THINK rather than memorize pointless things that you'll forget when the term ends. His teaching is def beneficial outside the classroom.

most unorthodox class i've ever taken. however, i've learned so much in only 2 classes, not only about the course material, but about life in general. alan is the perfect example of what an educator should be, open-minded, tolerate, and extremely thought provoking. he doesn't place himself higher then anyone despite his plethora of intellect, howev

Amazing professor. He's not easy by any means, because he actually challenges your thought and perceptions, rather than just your workload. I highly suggest trying to get into one of his classes before he leaves UD. His course is one of those rare learning experiences that you truly will remember for the rest of your life.

it took me a while to warm up to him...he's definitely really chill and stuff, attendance isn't mandatory but you need to write a journal entry after every class and that's what your grade is based on, so you should probably go. but if you want an easy A, take him...def an interesting semester

It's up to you how much you want to get out of his class. Reading the books and writing gives a good springboard for discussions. He is by definition, the man, and even a neocon christian can learn to like him.

Take any class with Alan..he ROCKS. and he's really hot. Every class you'll learn a new life lesson. Youll learn more in his class than in all 4 years at UD

Ridiculously bias and liberal to the point of being radical. However, class is really easy. Easy A. Not too interesting but was ok.

Very very great class! You learn soo much and i think this is the best way to learn because you don't have to read a boring textbook or worry about passing an exam. great teacher..he's very friendly and treats everybody like friends, not students. i think the stuff you lean in this class is more important what u'll learn in all ur other classes.

It will teach you the most crucial aspect of life; how to deal with all different kinds of people. It was an eye opening experience for me. I would recommend it to anyone. You delve into various topics and bounce ideas off of each other.cool guy

great teacher. probly the easist A i got at UD. if u do all the assignments, your gonna get an A because he doesnt believe that a grade can assess the academic progress of students... take as many classes as you can with him, i know i will be.

Great teacher. Doesn't believe in grades, do all the assignments and you'll get an A. Take any of his classes for the pure academic experience without the pressure of grades. People say they dont learn anything but thats because they have a stigma regarding what education is (study, facts, tests) but Alan presents experiences rather than exams.
