You only work on four paintings a semester which sucks, you do revisions all year on each one. He will use markers on your paintings to be prepared. He's really specific and nitpicky so be prepared to redo things over and over again. Expect power tools and saw for making canvas. As demanding as life drawing with Bonilla. Expensive, essays too.

Alberto is a very, very good professor, and artist. he really knows what he is talking about. yes, he demands a lot of work, but none of it is pointless. He tries his absolute best to make you a better artist, in your Work physically, and conceptually.

Alberto is fantastic! His classes are definitely not easy, but if you put forth the effort you will get a lot out of it. He is great with advice and just a good general resource. He is all about "tough love", i wish i could have taken more classes with him.

Alberto demands a lot of work, so don't take his class unless you are prepared for it, he probably makes you work harder than any of the other art teachers. That being said, he is exactly the kind of teacher you want to be teaching you, he expects your best and you must be willing to work many many hours a week in the studio. No excuses!

It's not easy. It's going to be your job and your future. If it wasn't difficult they wouldn't call it WORK. Spent your evenings in the studios, make friends with your classmates. They will be your family for the next four years. Pay attention at Visiting Artists (do they still do this?). Other schools don't offer you this resource.

Amazing! Alberto will train you for a future as an artist. You need to listen to him, pay attention, everything he says is valuable. I went on to another school after Fredonia and did not get the support he offered. He showed more than any other prof when I was there- he'll teach you how- pay attention. Get the book "handbook for the emerging artist" before you take him. You'll need it anyway and I still use it- it's a very valuable tool. Thanks Alberto- I wish I listened back then (1997).
