Extremely knowledgeable. Helpful. Maybe it is a problem for those that have never traveled but his accent is NOT a problem. Besides, the best way to learn is to listen.

Professor Khapalov, albeit difficult to understand at first, is a good professor and knows what he is talking about. He does a good job of illustrating points on the board, but it is recommended to sit near the front in order to hear him, as he is very soft spoken.

Not easy to understand but is a very intelligent man! I went to class for about the first three weeks then began studying from the book. Exams are easy IF YOU STUDY. Homework is easy if you have a good TA grading it. DO NOT get LAURA SHUMAN, she is not helpful at all. I got an A- just learning from the book so know that that is an option.

I thought this class would be easy. It was at first, I did really well in the beginning. Then the final came. The final was ridiculously hard, even my TA said so. Needless to say I have to retake this class.

Although he has an accent, it is easy to get used to and it is understandable after the first day. Really nice guy and teaches well, gives a lot of in class examples that appear on exams. Exams are not hard at all if you pay attention and attend class

Dr. Khapalov is the best math prof at WSU. He's extremely helpful, and despite the fact that he speaks softly, he presents the material in an easy to understand way.

Good prof, teaches you everything you need to know, and nothing more. Exams are easier than some hw problems. No problems with accent. Good all around.

Comment:
He is extremely difficult to understand through his accent and is insanely quiet even with a microphone. I think if he learned to speak louder class might be somewhat more interesting instead of making me want to fall asleep at my desk. His writing is also hard to read at times and therefore makes the rest of the problem difficult to follow.

even though he is not really good in explaining the material, his exams are so easy, without tricky questions, especially the final, it was so easy and basic.

Although his soft-spokeness and accent make him difficult to understand, the truly frustrating aspect of taking a lecture from Khaplov is his bizarre fear of exemplification. Some of the examples of problems that he does give he never completes, or else they sprial out of control into problems far too difficult for the class. I think he's bored.

I'm a math major and had him his summer and he made Calc 2 easy to understand. 172 is a hard class and difficult to teach. He does a good job and I would take another class from him.

He means well, but his accent is near impossable to understand, if you have a good TA you will do well if not as in my case where both the TA and Khapalov have heavy accents, you better be prepared to do some prereading of the text before comming to class.

Accent is hard to understand, but you get used to it after a few weeks. The homework is much harder than the exams, but the exams are based on a basic understanding of the material, I got an A on all of them, very easy!

He seems like a very nice person. In lecture he is not a very loud speaker and his accent is difficult to get use to. His tests are managable if you understand the material. Stick his class through, 'cause I think it could be worse. Sit close to the front in class if you really can't understand him, and you always have you lab TA.

No doubt he means well and cares about the success of students. However, he is so hard to understand that you don't get much out of lecture. Somewhat frustrating if you've never taken a calculus course.

i think he means well, he's just a little hard to understand sometimes. however, once you learn how he pronounces some words, it's not that bad.
