Dr. Gheissari is a professor that speaks A LOT. Barely any discussion in class. Do not use your phone or talk to a friend next to you, he'll go to the extent of kicking you out. The tests are based on questions he'll give you beforehand, so just prepare for them. Get on his good side and he'll let you pass. Always show him that you're trying.

Awesome teacher. Very knowledgable in the subject and will answer every question. He is a pretty easy grader on the midterms. Ask him to answer the questions in class then fill out study guide he will do most of the work for you. The take home final is a bit difficult, because there is not much time to do it.

He is so sweet and helpful you just want to hug him!! he is such a genius which makes it boring if you can't follow along. study for the tests and you will get an easy A/B. Its very straightforward. 3 tests and thats your grade plus 10% participation. TAKE HIM and bring your computer to class

I took him for world history and it was an extremely easy A. All you had to do was show up to class. He gives you the test as a study guide in the syllabus, so if you do the study guide you should get 100% on each test. Only 3 tests and they are all essay tests, but they can easily be bs'd. I recommend taking this course if you want an easy A.

Just an absolute bore. Monotone voice, thick accent, speaks in metaphor and allegory. Tests are so stressful as well. 100 point class; 3 tests all worth 30 points + 10 pts participation. the tests are all essays; each test is 12 pages MINIMUM of writing. I had to basically teach myself everything bc his lectures were so so boring. AVOID All COSTS!!

This class is NOT boring! Fascinating subject matter that is extremely relevant today. Professor Gheissari is amazing..best history professor I've had at USD. He is extremely gifted at simplifying complex material and teaching without imposing his own personal and political beliefs and opinions. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

His classes are long winded in narrative teaching which bored a few. But things got interesting when others started asking him about the class matter. He knows everything about the Middle East and Islam. The class was worth taking after a week or two.

I hate reading that he's a boring professor. Honestly, it's heavy material. Unless you have a real interest in the material, you're going to find it boring no matter who teaches it. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows an incredible amount. He's so open to answering questions, and if you visit him in office hours, is a great conversationalist.

he is so boring! but you never have to go to class because he doesnt take roll. Lectures are horrible and make you more confused then if you dont go. Only points are from the midterm(40) and final(60) so you have to do well on the tests, study guides pretty much give you the answers.

This professor is unbelievably boring...I've never had a good history teacher in my life, so he fit right in. He rambles on and on, and his lectures basically made me suicidal. I've heard a lot of people take his class b/c they're easy, which is true, but that's not what college is about.

Extremely intelligent man and knows a lot on the subject. Pretty laid back and just gave us papers for the class no tests, although he is pretty tough on his grading. Overall very intersting class and great professor
