Responded to some emails, avoided others completely. This course was a horrible experience because of the instructor. My experience with every other MUN course has been positive, so this was really unfortunate.

Alison is a very kind human being - she will go out of her way to help you, plan tutorials for the class, etc. However, her lecture formats are terrible - A 2.5hr night lecture with the only notes/teaching is her hand written "notes" on a projector w/ her speaking during it. She often makes mistakes, is confusing, and hard to listen to. BEWARE.

Don't have her for an online course. She takes forever to respond to questions and posts no notes, so be ready to read the textbook and only hope you're reading the right chapters because her syllabus doesn't list any. Material is very dry. She's supposedly better in person, but through distance, just drop the course.

Super fun and nice! No online notes though so make sure you go to class, which is okay because she makes it enjoyable. But you really gotta know your stuff, all her exams are short answer with plenty of graphs needed. Would recommend!

Great Personality does not mean great professor. She means well but does not really prepare you for the exams, all notes written, sometimes terribly by free hand. The course is hard and really should not be taught in 50min slots.

Hands down one of the best profs I've ever had. She's so sweet and enthusiastic about teaching, which makes the topics really easy to absorb. She goes a little fast in lectures sometimes but is very approachable if you need help with anything. 10/10 would recommend.

She is a nice and funny person, but a horrible prof. The only notes are written out during class, and her writing is completely illegible, so taking notes is nearly impossible. The "textbook" is no help, since its online and lacks even a table of contents. Her reviews dont match up with the test content or format. If you want to pass, DO NOT SKIP.

Awesome prof - loved her! Econ is pretty dry, but she made it interesting. I actually enjoyed going to her classes! She tells you exactly what's on her tests, which are 20-25 short answers. They aren't hard; review the notes & you'll do fine. Must go to class to get notes (she doesn't use the text). Wish I could take macro with her. Def recommend!

I had her for Econ 2020, and she was fabulous. But for 2010 it was a disaster. She was all over the place and didn't seem confident in her lecturing abilities. The graphs were horribly confusing and the practice tests she posted weren't like the ones she gave us. Her lectures were inconsistent and left me with more questions than answers.

Her classes were lots of fun! She browses the news at the beginning of every class and tries to pull stories that apply to class topics. Her writing is tough to read, but if you ask she'll clear up any confusion. She's pretty easy going and does tutorials before every test. Take her if you have the option!

Great Prof...made the material interesting. Attendance in class is a must; text book wasn't used so exams were based on notes and lectures. Really wants you to do well and was always available if you had questions. Would definately take another course with her.

Worst teacher I had in my undergrad program yet, You are asked to write notes after notes. Her handwriting is soo bad. Her classes discuss all theories, she discusses articles but she doesnt put theoritical or article question on exam. Instead she asks very tough Numerical questions in the exam which she never discussed in the class. DONT TAKE HER

She is really out there, but that is what makes her class enjoyable. Current events in International Trade is a very important part of this course. If anything, she is trying to teach you how to critically assess international trade (and economic theory in general) that is happening around you. Learning this skill is fairly essential to doing well.

Alison Coffin is one of the best profs I have had. You do have to attend all the classes to get the notes, but if you just go over it the material is very easy. Also she is always available in her office, and will even lead you books with extra questions. She is crazy but she keeps this dry material easy to follow.

Great prof! Very fun, if a little zany. We spent the first part of almost every class looking at stories in the news and then relating them back to course concepts. Easy marker, really tries to give marks where she can and gives the option for a 100% final exam. Super great, would definitely take another course with her.
