Kinard is an amazing teacher & kind person. Her class mostly consists of discussing texts and her views, but she is extremely knowledgeable and well versed with words. As long as you participate in class and ask questions, you will do well. Also, seek help in office hours - she gives great advice for essays; this usually translates to a good grade.

Kinard is very well-versed in her subject and a nice, caring professor. Make sure to read the required readings and participate in class and you'll be fine. Most can be found online as PDFs so I don't know if the textbook is necessary. There are three essays and the first essay's revision counts as the entire grade for that paper.

Kinard is really easy to talk to, and the class itself is pretty easy. There are pop quizzes often, so you need to know what the main topics of the readings were. The final was fairly easy if you studied the vocab and readings and you need a basic understanding of how to identify particular material (ie. personification). Papers are doable.

Chance to revise 2 out of 3 essays, and all essay due dates were pushed back. Brought our class candy on Halloween. Occasional pop quizzes, but just do the reading and you'll be okay. Super sweet and understanding lady who provides easy, nonstressful introduction into college for freshmen. Take her and you won't regret it.

One of the easiest writing seminars, very little reading, flexible due dates. The professor gives great feedback for revisions and her grading is very fair. You can (thankfully) revise 2 out of 3 essays. Easy assignments and pop quizzes. Flexibility in devising your own essay prompt. If you are taking a first year writing seminar, take this one!

Dr. Kinard was a great prof and perfect for a first semester of college. If only I had taken the help she always offered, I would have probably earned an A, but at least an A-. Most readings for the class were short, which was really nice, and the topic was very interesting.

Very easy for a W course, but she really wants to get to your level and improve you from there. Classwork is easy to keep up with,and she is just a really nice lady. One of the first professors I had who understood teaching is not about huge volumes of impossible work.

Dr. Kinard is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She cares about her students and is willing to meet with you. Her expectations for her students are more than reasonable and if you take the time out to really understand the concepts you should do well. I definitely want to take another class with her. She is a GREAT professor!!

Professor Kinard has been, by far, my favorite here at Vanderbilt. By leaving much of the class time open for discussion, the period flies by, and I always leave with new opinions and ideas about the poems. Not too much work, if you don't mind writing papers, but a very good choice for an elective!

Professor Kinard has been, undoubtedly, the best professor that I have ever had! She presents the material very well, challenges her students to think in novel ways, and goes the extra mile to help students inside and outside of class. She has a wonderful personality. I'm definitely going to take one of her courses again, even if it is an 8am!

kinard is one of may favorite teachers of all time! She is extremely knowledgeable about almost every subject and is one of the most eloquent people i have ever meet. She also has a very motherly feel, which is refreshing. Our subject was very interesteing (love and marriage) and she gave me a new perspective!
