she is the meanest teacher I have taken at el Camino ever. she is in all honesty not helpful if you do not understand the material. she is rude and acts like she really does not like her students and looks as if she wants to leave class more than half the time Avoid her! if you need help in chem she puts you down

Comment:

Very very specific about what she wants on testsquizeslabs and very particular on how you write your scripts. Her desire for perfectionism really helps later on in the semester and her lectures are GREAT. She can seem a little intimidating at times but generally good natured and loves her puns. I haven't picked up the book once this semester.

Comment:

Just like everyone has said, she is not helpful, rude, and has a sour attitude. However, her notes are super understandable. Tests are not tricky at all & labs are only 10 points each. She grades with a curve as well. Hw is optional but good practice. Definitely was prepared for chemistry 1a which I took in the summer.

Horrible attitude. Ask questions at your own risk, otherwise feel her wrath. She's flat out mean, rude and incredibly unapproachable. Aside from that, she's clear and concise with her power points and lectures. Stay on top of things and take the time to study and you will be fine. But word of advice, avoid direct contact and you're golden.

Simply horrible attitude. Seems funny at first until you ask a question, the things get real! I felt myself a brilliant individual, never had been made to feel more stupid until I asked for clarification on something. Learned my lesson fast, it did make me work harder. Got an A, but It was the hardest A ever! If you get chem your good, but if not?

She is a good professor, and expects you to put the time in studying the material. Very helpful in office hours. Strict in lab, but adapt to her style and you will learn a lot from her. I would take more classes with her if I had a chance. Definitely review the notes and stay on top of homework.

Wasn't really interested in Chem UNTIL Dr. Grant. I hope to take OChem with her because she is a straight-shooter that is uber-organized and efficient. If you study, read the book, and study a little bit of Chem everyday, you will make it. I will pass this class with a high A and I do put in an inordinate amount of time (15+ hrs/ wk) into Chem4.

I was really interested in chem until I met Grant. Cant ask any questions and if you dont understand something she will definitely put you down! Take anyone but her,she has no interest in her students learning the material. Very discouraging.

can't ask questions, the # 1 complaint. I've never seen this material before and if I'm lost or confused she get's annoyed if you ask her repeatedly. clearly, she understands the material so well she can't imagine a student that doesn't. her dismissive attitude rubs many the wrong way combined with a difficult subject and you feel discouraged.

Knowing the material is definitely not going to make everybody a professor.Notes are good and tests are easy but stay away if you have the choice.unapproachable,will make you feel like you're trash.It's her attitude towards students who she thinks aren't good enough for chemistry. A professor should make a student, not break them.

I’m a Biochem grad I just needed this class to prepare my self again for Pharmacy school. She has a good scene of humor but, will make you feel stupid. She’s not very helpful if you don’t understand something especially in the lab. Please avoid her more than half the class dropped her through out the semester.

Dr. Grant's powerpoints provide all the information necessary to get an A on all tests. Write it all in your notes. Tests and quizzes are easy to medium. She does like students to show interest in the course. I would highly recommend her as she provides a solid foundation for those moving on in chemistry.

She LOVES being asked questions. Do it and you'll be her favorite. All kidding aside, this class is really easy. The book is not required. Just read her notes and you'll do well on tests. The final was strangely written though.

Very good teacher but you HAVE to read your book and do a lot of work. In defense of Dr. Grant, do you know how many freaking times she has to answer the same stupid questions, even in the same class about Sig Figs or decimals? Do yourself a favor: if you read chapter first, you don't need to ask so many questions. Or just ask tutor!

I just finished taking Chem 4 with her.These other comments are spot on.She is a good chem professor and her notes are crystal clear.however, if you have any questions at all do not bother asking her. She makes you feel stupid and will reply with a answer.She is not approachable at all..her tests are medium difficulty.not too bad. i got a B(77-87).

This has absolutely nothing to do with her instructional ability. She is crystal clear with lecture and lab, but my honest opinion is to avoid her classes like the plague. If you 100% understand the material, you are fine; but if you need even 1% help, then you are screwed. She is the most unhelpful and unprofessional instructor I've ever had.

Extremely strict and doesn't take anyone's BS but by golly does she teach chemistry. 8 quizes, 15 labs, 4 exams, and 1 final. She does an amazing job at teaching the material and you will genuinely learn so much just as long as you hold up your part of the bargain and STUDY. Can't stress that enough. Dont by the textbook. Lecture through powerpoint

Very hard class to take during summer as you cover 3 chps. a week w/ weekly tests. Everything you need to know for the test is on Dr. Grant's powerpoints. You don't need the the book. When asking questions, make sure the answer isn't already in your notes; the course is already fast paced and doesn't need to be slowed down w/ uneccessary questions

Took her summer 2011 VERY SARCASTIC and condescending towards students power points are very detailed however. Marked me wrong for thinking my letter was a B and not a R and tells me you need to conform to the way I grade. has no interpersonal skills at all and doesn't care if you feel embarrassed. It might just be her personality but there's no reason to be mean. tests are kinda hard and final was very easy overall I don't recommend her at all
