Amy teaches in a very "old fashioned" way, relying more heavily on fear of failure as a motivator rather than rewards, and is not afraid to fail a few students as examples to the rest of the class. I was one of those students, and I can tell you that my work and efforts were on par with my peers, yet she had no qualms about failing me. Avoid her.

Amy is an amazing professor! She truly cares about what she teaches, and makes you fall in love with it too. Discussions are always interesting and very helpful in understanding the material and doing well on the assignments. Class is lively, informative and fun. She doesn't just teach you how to write, but how to become a better critical thinker.

I have never been so intimidated and in love with a professor as I am with Amy. She's a rough grader, but will teach you everything you need to know before hand. She funny, lively, sarcastic, and sometimes just scary. But really, take an Amy Mathur class, it will be amazing.

So Amy is a little bit full of herself, but it goes along with her fun personality and outgoing sociability. Some people like her and some people don't, but when it comes down to it, she's a pretty good prof. and an effective writer with an authority on communication. Amy Mathur rocks my socks! The most sarcastic prof. I've ever had, she makes class fun. But if you can't stand a prof. with a chip on her shoulder, stay away. She'll also help you figure out a way to **** out your room next year if you ask her. :)
