Dr. Slagell is knowledgeable and very passionate about the subject. She helps put the speeches into context which is useful. Most class periods start with a brief 10-15 minute lecture followed by directed group discussion on the reading(S). The exams are relatively easy but projects require significant effort.I strongly recommend this class!

Easy A. Take attendance in Lab. Given 5 quizzes in lecture but it's in the schedule so you know when to go. I couldn't stand the way she talked. It was annoying. However, the material is easy and just common sense so it doesn't matter who is teaching it.

Dr. Slagell is an amazing professor. The class itself is challening but only if you don't invest the time. Most of the complaints I heard from other students were not valid, they seemed upset they had to do work. I think most assume this is an easy class and are surprised when it turns out they can't just sling crap together and call it gold.

Very nice woman that is very knowledgeable on subject, with well-designed, fair exams on material taken from books, and a VERY forgiving grading system with plenty of extra credit. Lectures with Slagell herself are usually pointless, however; the material is all on WebCT and in the textbook, so lecture is at most watching clips of amateur speakers.

Totally cool class. Dr. Slagell is funny and digs the speeches. BUT there is tons of reading and writing papers. Don't take the class if you don't like to read or write. Lots of history stuff too.

The lecture for this class was extremely boring!!! Most of the class is in the lab where you are with about 20-some people, it's a pretty easy class but a lot of busy work... I felt like I was in high school again.
