Comment:

She is terrible. Treats 153 as a review and expects you to know all the grammar. Never assigns hw or follows the syllabus but randomly expects you to have done practice problems in the book and quizzes on the answers in class. Only grade is the final which is over grammar that is never taught - just mentioned. Regret taking the class with her.

Comment:

Douchin is one of the most passionate teachers that I have ever had. Period. But if you're looking to improve your FR, this is not the class for you. Skips midterm, doesn't follow syllabus and expects you to already know your grammar and vocabulary. The only grade in the course is the final-which is mostly grammar that you won't learn here.

The most passionate professor or teacher i've ever had. You will succeed in her class if you complete the assignments, do the homework and study the textbook. She gives MANY opportunities to improve your grade. Take advantage of all the extra credit assignments she offers, and you will get an A as long as she knows you care and are trying!

She's simply a lovely and charming woman. I looked forward to every french class. Often she'd tell inspirational stories and try to engage the class in debates. She doesn't really follow a syllabus and doesn't use black board. It's hard to know what she expects, but if you approach her, she is very helpful. One of the best professors i've ever had.

A generally very nice old lady -- was very excited during the first class. Interest waned somewhat; she's very disorganized and her grading confuses the hell out of me. But, overall, I'm thankful to have taken the class. Use the textbook: memorize everything and don't skip class.

Honestly, she should not be teaching 153. She believes that you already speak Fr when you enter her class. You do not go over grammar or vocab. You only read stories. She never uses a syllabus, everyone in class was lost each day, midterm was simply skipped, then added on to the final.Very nice though. Great teacher if you already speak fr.

She is entertaining in class but assignments are very ambiguous. Find out when her office hours are (doesn't list them or her email in the syllabus) and go see her often. There are hardly any real assignments but if you want to make a good grade just pick a random page in the book every couple weeks to do for extra credit and turn it in TYPED.

I can understand why some students don't like her teaching because it seems unorganized and unvaried, but she passionate, funny and her spoken French is easy to understand. She's also really helpful if you go see her one-on-one, which is a good idea. I really liked her as a teacher.

Fun, funny and eccentric as a person, but awful as a teacher.She's ambiguous about what you're supposed to do for hw, she NEVER puts down a letter grade for any work that you do (so I'm freaking out about my ambiguous final grade), and she's clearly one of those teachers who has favourites and rewards them the most. I regret taking her class.

avoid this professor for your own sanity! she will drive you crazy with her senseless grading policies and other ridiculous things (she leaves office hours a half an hour early even when she gets there 15 minutes late). she is awful and of top of it all...I can honestly say that I learned nothing.

C+ here as well. She tends to love giving those out to people she doesn't favor as much in class. Wasn't favortism a thing of the past? Apparently not, I really did HOURS of work for this class and it all went unnoticed. I would advise you STRONGLY to not take this class. If you are, be on top of your grade.

I took AP French in HS, and was technically exempt from this class. But, i took it thinking it would be easy. Boy was I wrong. I was easily far ahead of the rest of the class, did the work, participated and got shafted extra hard in the end. Extremely unorganized, we strayed away from our syllabus a few weeks in.

HORRIBLE! Diligent worker here and got a C+..and know a few others who received the same grade with even better work ethic. She has a very traditional style of grading and doesn't really write anything down on your paper. Your surprise comes when you check your final grade...and voila...not pretty. If you take this class, be alert on your grade.

I had her for recitation, so i can't really comment on her grading style or fairness, but she is HILARIOUS! tell us about her ex-husband, and tells us to shape our mouths like the anus of a chicken to make the correct "oo" sound.

She is fun-loving and great to have in class (as long as you agree with her), but then she absolutely shafts you on your grade. Even if you do all your essays and participate in class every day, it doesn't matter. Likes it when you visit her during office hours, but frequently won't be there herself. Misses appointments - very unprofessional.
