He really is a good teacher just kind of gives boring assignments. You can tell he really loves English and his job... its just really hard. 11/10 for his attitude though! if you have the choice go for the nice old lady (I don't remember her name) for English for engineers

If you haven't gotten the idea from the other reviews, don't take this professor. ENG105 is taught by multiple professors and you can get someone who will give you the grade you deserve, not a grade much lower. Far too tough of a grader and doesn't give useful feedback at all.

Andrew Green is a very interesting and passionate teacher. His class requires you to read short stories and watch movies that are in very good taste. Class discussions are very engaging. Essays are a lot of work and require you to think abstractly and outside the box. I learned a lot about my writing as well as philosophy from this class.

Professor Green is very friendly and approachable. Attendance is mandatory, but his class is interesting. His essay process was sometimes annoying because much of the grade goes into outlines/annotations/peer reviews and his comments could be vague. However, I do believe he grades fairly and he loves giving extra credit on blackboard assignments.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. DONT take his section of ENG106. You will do way more work than you will in any other ENG106 class. Not much of a complainer when it comes to work load, but this teacher just assigns so much unnecessary and time consuming crap. Only 50% essay grade is your final draft, the rest is intensive peer editing. Save yourself the trouble

Dr Green uses a 3 step torture approach via 3 essays. Sir Green loves implications; any mention sends Professor Green into an "A+" frenzy. The Master Overlord of the Seas might be a little nearsighted and Vice Chancellor Green often confuses students, but don't blame it on His Excellency; Lord and Savior Green XI Jr. Sr. simply forgot his glasses.

Disappointed with the grade he gave. Did so much work and receive an unfair feedback.

The man has no idea what he is talking about. He tries to make points that are original, but doing so just ends up regurgitating thoughts and ideas that are very common. The only two words hell give you for feedback are superfluous and focus. Ive never had an English teacher with such a limited vocabulary. Kinda makes you feel bad for the man.

If English isn't your major, don't take him. I worked hard and got nothing. He asks for something original, yet complains if you don't see what he sees. He gives vague feedback and doesn't help. I took all my essays to three professors who said they were "A material" before turning them in. He gave me a C on each one with no good reason to do so.

not terrible but not great. I think his teaching style was just not a good match for me though. My level of stress went up walking into class because he randomly calls on people and will make you look really dumb if you don't give a really good answer. He never intentionally tried to make people look/feel bad but sometimes it still felt like it.

Just avoid this professor at all costs. Dude doesn't know what he is talking about. Honestly feel like he just needs someone to talk to. Green sees a fault in everything everyone writes but says that he wants to give everyone a good grade. Its not that he is a tough grader, I just feel like he doesn't know how to grade.

Green is a really good professor and the class taught me a lot about my own writing. But that being said, in order to get a good grade you definitely need to come to class, get your drafts done, participate especially during peer reviews, and use the peer reviews to your advantage.

I went to all his office hours and emailed him constantly. His feedback was useless. I've had an A in every English class I've ever taken until Green. No matter how hard I tried I got a C on every assignment. I finally got a B and because I was at a funeral (I had proof I was really at a funeral) and missed a peer edit he gave me a C again. AWFUL!

Green is actually a very caring professor. He wants his students to succeed, but he also wants them to respect him. If you fail to come to class, do your work, or respect him/peers in class, you will not pass. Other than that, you do have to work hard to write a solid paper but he give great feedback during office hours and commends extra work.

Professor Green was on the most part very welcoming and comforting the first few weeks of class. Even though I passed the class, I expected a higher grade than I thought. Take advantage of the online peer reviews it helps a lot. He is a tough grader and his prompts for essays are quite confusing. Don't buy the book. Waste of money.

Overall, Andrew Green's class is fairly easy. However, he is not at all a good professor. He thinks he provides you with the best of feedback on your rough drafts when he in fact does not. Also, he is big on attendance meanwhile he says nothing useful in his lectures. Be prepared for him to go on and on about his short time spent at oxford.
