Very hip. For Brit lit he made Beowulf and sonnets cool, and incorporated his love of music, old school punk, etc. with the novel High Fidelity. Really interesting, from England with cool accent, also lived in Japan. Bloody briliant and clearly explains everything. You'll love him.
