Howard is the best teacher I have ever had. He is a great mentor and is honest, gives great feedback if you ask for it and makes it fun to engage in his class. He challenges you to work harder, think about things from multiple perspectives and encourages students to speak their minds. Make no mistake, photo is a lot of work, but he is worth it.

Whoever wrote the comments dated may 09 didn't take the course. This is a caring, knowledgable and terrific teacher. Either that or they were mediocre students who didn't live up to the expectations of professor Howard and simply didn't do the work. This guy is one of the best..

honestly thought he was awful. he expected so much & was no help at all! he picked favorited & made you feel uncomfortable. a lot of work that i could have spent doing more productive things. only take this course if it is towards your major or else you are wasting your time like i did.

overall good teacher, loves what he does and likes having relationships with students on a personal level which is good for art classes. students of his need to learn to accept his criticism and comments on their work but dont always listen to everything he says, sometimes he overgeneralizes and thinks he "knows" you when he might not.
