He's awesome! You definitely need to study, but, if you're planning on going to med school, teachers like him are who will prepare you for working hard. I DO NOT recommend taking this class a Gen Ed!!

Super smart. He comes up with ways of remembering what the information is and takes time to answer questions. As long as you pay attention and take notes you'll be fine. He simplifies a lot of the things and overall I feel I've learned a lot

Makes the class extremely difficult for a 100 level class. Does not help students at all. Must do an excessive amount of work to get even a mediocre grade.

In hindsight, he's the one I miss. He taught me how to work hard.... which isn't necessarily something that is fun to learn. I'm not sure how much academic material I retained from his upper level classes. But I promise that if you take them, you'll make some good memories.

Dr. Whipple is a great man and a great person to talk to. However, his class is unnecessary complicated for the subject matter taught and he teaches in a very "old school" hard-to-understand way- relying solely on chalkboard notes and verbal lecturing. He also makes it a visible goal to "weed out" freshman and is overall, very hard to understand.

Honestly, I would avoid this prof if you can. He definitely likes upperclassmen more than freshmen, so he tries to weed out incoming science majors. I can only speak for the cell bio class, but he makes the class very complicated and his tests are ridiculous unnecessarily. He can be fun to talk to though. He's just hard to get along with sometimes.

Dr. Whipple gets a bad rep. I think it's just because he's hard on freshmen so he can "weed out" people who would probably change their major anyway. He's actually doing them a favor. Honestly, I learned so much from him and I loved his class. He's a great person and a great professor. Oh, just don't expect him to take it easy on you!
