Professor Wright struggled to explain information beyond his own understanding. Majority of the class had never coded before or even knew what C# was. He failed to make the information go deeper than just completing a lab and program once a week. He read off the powerpoints which made it hard to sit through class.

Professor Wright is very clear when he teaches. He gives great examples and if you have any questions at all he does a great job at explaining until you understand.

This class can be very difficult if you're new to coding. I hate C#. There are a lot of labs and difficult programs. I don't like the way he teaches. He's boring, reads off the powerpoint, and will put you on the spot if you ask a question if you're unfamiliar with something. There needs to be someone else teaching this other than him.

a good person but a boring, yet decent professor. reads off powerpoints and has boring lectures. allows cheat sheets on exams and has lockdown browser quizzes. all of the quizzes will be on part 1 of the exam. part 2 will consist of the questions he puts on blackboard. part 3 is a DIY lab from scratch. hate how he's the only prof for this class

This class was very challenging for me because it was my first time ever programming. However, Dr. Wright was very helpful if you needed help with labs, programs, concepts, etc. outside of class. The class started out rough, but over time I started to understand the concepts. Attend class and ask questions if you have them.

The class is hard if it is your first programming class but Wright is incredibly helpful in getting you to understand and get an A on assignments. Labs and quizzes every week but he is just incredible in making the class not make me wanna cry.

I had Wright for CIS199 as well and enjoyed this course even more. Yes, the material is way harder! If this is your intended major, know that coding is sink or swim regardless of professor. Wright won't let you sink and does everything he can to help you succeed (aside from unfair grade boosts). If you like coding you will like Wright.

A hard class in general if you're new to programming. Learning object oriented programming requires you to put in a lot of work. He doesn't really code in class and you're going to refer to the book quite a lot. His teaching style is pretty boring and he reads from his powerpoints. Allows cheat sheet on exam so that makes the exams easier.

I'm about through the first month 1/2. He is great teacher, the material may be complex for some, but if you read the text, and think creatively. He will often guide you through that creative process to find solutions to problems. He is really great at responding to emails, and I think he has volumes of experience when it comes educating.

I am not a fan of the way he teaches C#. He tends to speak above your head and NEVER actually codes in class. He may review previously written code but you never actually write a program in class, which is detrimental to your learning experience. You can skip class and watch the Tegrity recordings an be fine. He allows a cheat sheet on the exams.

Great CIS professor! If you are a CIS minor, major, or neither, take him for everything you will not regret it. There is a lot of material so read the book. He doesn't take attendance and he records lectures on tegrity but class is very helpful and there may be pop quizzes for extra credit. He cares about his students!

I loved class with Wright. The course itself and material was difficult, but he truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Go to class, read and study a fair amount and you'll have no problem with his course. Overall a great professor, who really knows about computer programming.

Excellent professor, he is very knowledgeable about programming and explains the material very well. This class is not easy, but it's also not rocket science. Read the material before class, pay attention during the lectures, and test your coding skills in visual studio and you will have no problem passing.

Probably the nicest, most sincere professor you will have at UofL. Don't mistake that for someone who you can walk over, because he won't tolerate slackers. He explains things very clearly, and you know exactly what he expects. I wish I could take him for every course.

Wright is a great professor. His only downfall is he doesn't grade anything (programs 35% of your grade) until finals week. So you don't know your actual grade most of the semester. Luckily he seems to grade the programs pretty easy as long as they work so it should be a grade buster at the end of the semester. Test questions given before test.

Great class, and a really good professor. Some writing involved, but the class material was fairly easy. Dr. Wright does a good job explaining material. He once postponed our quiz because UofL was playing in the Big East Finals...that is how nice and understanding he is. I would take him again.
