Rivera cares a lot about his students, provides useful feedback, and teaches practical, usable Spanish. Never did I feel uncomfortable or unsure speaking up in his class, even though I'm not great with the language, because even with wrong answers comes positive, useful, and supportive feedback.

He's a great guy. I didn't enjoy a large amount of the material though mostly because I don't like reading and this was a literature class. Even though the material was difficult at times, his grading was very lenient.

Rivera is an extremely intelligent man - he knows an incredible amount about history, culture and language. And on top of that he's tons of fun to have in class! He will push your Spanish a little bit, but he's kind while he does it, trying to get you to do your best without embarrassing you. Definitely take him if you get the chance!

I have two hour classes with Rivera and each one goes by so fast. His lectures are interesting, and the homework, though it seems like a lot, isn't hard. He's an extremely easy grader and cares about his students. He's a lot of fun and I'd definitely recommend taking a class with him, it is definitely worth the effort needed to get a good grade!

This professor will make you work a little bit, the homework is very easy and take less than 20 minutes each. His lectures are usually funny or you'll watch a few videos movies. Exams are somewhat hard, but its mostly memorizing some chapter vocabulary. Overall, he's a great professor whom I've taken for two different Spanish courses for A's

Rivera is easily one of the best professors at this school. He's organized, friendly, fun to talk to, and genuinely cares about his students. His classes aren't cakewalks though, you will be expected to participate and put in the effort to learn. If you do so, you'll have a great experience.

The best Spanish Professor Ever! He is very serious, well prepared and organized for all his courses. He focus on the overall language improvement(read, write, speak, listen), and he genuinely cares about his students. Its not an easy A course, but you are sure to get a good grade if you pay hard work.

Film class was fun. Films were very relaxing to watch. Class was decent. Work: film review, quizzes (super easy), midterm/final (ok). Class not too hard. Class discussions weren't that great; folks just weren't too fluent in SP, but that's the class, not the prof. Rivera always enthusiastic, explains clearly, cool discussion topics. Great class!

I took Spanish Culture and Civ; will take Film and Media. Prof extremely clear, speaks Spanish quickly but understandably. Very helpful and understanding. Mild amount of work (40 pgs Spanish reading/wk, 1 essay, 1 group oral, 2 tests). Fair amount of class discussion. Lots of interesting things about Spain. Very good class, highly recommended.

I am in my second week of Intermediate II and am HATING it. It's not that he is a bad professor, his class is just very fast-paced. If you are used to just ****ing around in spanish class, I would avoid this professor. If you are willing to do the work and participate in class, then I recommend him.

Rivera is awesome! He challenges you but wants you to do well, and is very helpful. I took his class as a freshman, and had to work really hard. It is definitely possible to get an A in his class, but you have to work for it. His Spanish is also very clear and understandable.

This guy is the man. Having had to learn English himself, he is very good at explaining the finer points of the differences between Spanish and English. Also discusses interesting things in class, which moves at a relatively intense pace.
