Comment:

Expect homework due every class. Attendance is mandatory and by mandatory I mean you cant skip even one class without losing points because she does participation points each day, hw is turned in in class and quizzes are the beginning of class once a week. Homework is unclear more times than not. Overall very heavy coursework.

Comment:

Attendance is mandatory, and in every class you do activities on/ discuss the homework for the entire class. The assignments aren't too hard, they're more just time-consuming. She's a nice person who wants you to succeed, even if it means having to put in a bit more work. Grades homework liberally but essays/presentations are graded more harshly.

Online class was SUPER WORK LOAD HEAVY. BE PREPARED FOR A TON OF BUSY WORK. Super tough grader too.. The amount of assignments I received 0-25% on was INCREDIBLY disheartening. The instructions were not always clear and I had several emails never responded to.. VERY frustrating class... Made me lose a lot of interest in learning Spanish.

Comment:

She is very nice but there's A LOT of homework! There are assignments due each class and on Sunday nights online. However, once or twice when I was unable to submit an online assignment on time, I printed it out and brought it to class and she accepted it. She helped me better understand grammar and I'm much more confident in my Spanish.

Comment:

While her grading is strict, she is more than happy to go over work and answer clarifying questions. Just be sure to ask them! Participate, do the homework, and come to class and you should be fine. There are quizzes, but if you take good notes, you should get a good grade. No final exam but a final presentation and paper. She is funny and nice!!!

She gives very unclear instructions and has homework due every single class. She has pop quizzes once a week usually. She grades harsh usually but is sometimes nice. All the class is is group work she doesnt teach anything. However participation really matters and if you dont go to class you get a 0 for the day.

Bernardy is an okay professor. She is rude and will make you feel inferior. Her directions are not very clear and there is homework due twice a week. Normally, there are quizzes once a week and participation matters. Do not be late to class. She is tough grader, always give more information than she is asking for. I will not take her again.

Shes awful. You have to do ridiculous amounts of homework twice a week (due every class, printed out and submitted online BOTH or it doesnt count) and it counts for 40% of the class grade. I got A's on most major assignments but didnt do the homework a few times and got a D. She doesnt seem to give a single crap about her students. DO NOT TAKE HER.

Taking this class was the worst decision ever. It felt like a constant cycle of do homework, talk about homework, group discussion about homework, do the same home work again. It was absolutely horrible. At least 3 different assignments a week and horribly infantile literature. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!

Group work every class. You do the homework then talk about it in class. That's it. Doesn't answer her emails. She's a kind lady, but not as a professor. Grading is strict. She docked my presentation for things that weren't on the rubric. Overall her teaching is a solid 2/10 in terms of understanding and learning. Also, instructions are unclear.

She is amazing. I learned a lot from her. She is strict but if you're a good student you'll be just fine. Go to her office hours. She's great one-on-one. I wish i could take her again for another Spanish course. There will be a lot of reading and writing! and brush up on conversation skills. Also she's great to talk to in Spanish for practice!

Dr. Bernardy is more of a professional professor rather than down to earth person. It makes her more distant. She gives a lot of homework (assignments due every Tues. and Thurs.) and a quiz every week. The only test I remember taking is the final. The grade easily averages out to an A or B if you put in the work.

Dr. Bernardy is an extremely tough professor, she won't give you any oppurtunity to redo any assignements, and if you are a native she expects a lot from you and the grammatical side will be harder for native speakers. not your average spanish class.

I have a very mixed opinion towards her. Homework assignments nor quizzes aren't hard. Her attitude can really rub you the wrong way though. she'll pick on you constantly if you're even a few minutes late. You lose credit if you don't print your homework. If she feels like you're not paying attention she'll get on you. Can be chill but very moody

Don't expect to be given actual lessons. She provides assignments, and the occasional unclear example. Her assignment instructions are very confusing/indirect, and she will simply refuse to grade your assignments over formatting differences rather than look to see if the student understands the concept.

She just gives a lot of nonsensical work. She says it's not busy work, but that's exactly what it is. I didn't learn much from what I previously knew. Her instructions aren't clear and she's all over the place with them . She stuffs way too much material into a short span of time . She could of been more tactful about her set up. Don't take her.

Dra. Bernardy gives lots of homework and quizzes. Sometimes, directions are not that clear. Attendance is mandatory and will influence your grade. She takes it before every class. The silver lining: if you work hard, do all the assignments to the best of your ability, and show up for class, the class will be an easy A or B. Don't take this online.

The class was online and it was not that easy. She is just not a thorough person. She doesn't really describe what to do on an assignment very well. There are a lot of assignments. You have something due tuesday, thursday, and a quiz on it sunday. Final is not online, it is taken at one of the testing centers.

One of the best classes I have ever taken. I learned so much from Dr. B. You must work to get the full benefit. The activities are excellent and invaluable. Work hard and you will be glad you did. This course and professor helped me to read, hear, and speak better. A wonderful course and responsive professor. Take this course. It is great!

Comment:

3 assignments due every Tuesday, 2 assignments due every Thursday, and a quiz that is only available from Friday-Sunday. I personally do not like the set-up of the class, but she does respond to emails quickly. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on this class. I do not like how there is so much due each week, but it does help buffer your grade.
