In a survey and a seminar, Anna Gonosová helped me to fall in love with art history. Brilliant and beautiful and humble, she lectures compellingly from deep knowledge and offers the compliment of generous support to any student who puts forth an effort. She even welcomed students into her home for drinks and snacks and discussion. A superb teacher.

Has an accent; essays are vague but not difficult; she takes attendance only to boost the grade of those who come often. Go to her office hours as she is more likely to help you out later (she let me rewrite my paper for a higher grade and offered to help me study for the final). Tests: define key words~5MT& F, identify buildings~5MT&7F, 1-2 essays

I am an art history major and I have had this prof twice and I will NEVER take her again. Her lectures are disjointed. The amount of information is INSANE. Amount of images and readings for final was overwhelming. Posting below mine sums her up perfectly.

Yes, she's brilliant and a consummate scholar. We see that. But she kinda can't teach an undergraduate course. Those of you who "applied yourselves" feel rewarded for doing so, but doesn't change the fact that she puts up barriers to learning that shouldn't be there in the first place. Basic things like labels on pics are completely absent.

Her accent takes some time getting used to, and the lectures are fast, but if you just listen you should be fine, but you do need to know the historical aspects of the art you are learning about. Not the hardest class, but not easy either, but she is an easy grader. Recommended, and if I recommend you should listen :)

I absolutely adore Prof Gonosova. This is the 4th class I've had with her and by far the easiest. She is a walking encyclopedia and sometimes it can be difficult to keep up with her, but she grades fair and sometimes easy. If you read the book, you can keep up. Know you're stuff and you'll do fine. She's adorable, I love her.

The hardest art history course by far! Gonosova is a lovely, intelligent person who is definitely a great scholar, but she lacks essential teaching skills which students need to learn. It is A LOT of information + she expects you to know everything on a graduate level of understanding it seems. 10/120 images, 2 standard essays + terms for the final

An absolutely wonderful professor, kind, understanding, intelligent and very friendly, always smiling. She has an accent, but it is perfectly understandable. I too, would like to take as many of her classes as possible.

She is the sweetest lady. If I could I would adopt her as my grandmother. She has a czech accent but it isn't too strong, you can still understand her. She goes through alot of history but is very knowledgable about the art. She always looks at you and smiles and remembers who her students are. If I could I would take every class with her!

She really knows her stuff, she's smart and highly educated, definitely knows how to research. I can't follow for the life of me. Her heavy accent makes it hard to understand what shes saying, shes disorganized, and doesnt answer questions in class (she doesnt make eye contact). Not for me.

Extremely dull lectures! Heavy accent. Exams consist of slide ID (30 for the midterm, over 200 for final) of which she'll pick 6, short answer ID, and short essay. Lot of information and not organized well. Lectures and reading was off. Very picky. Do not take unless you live and die for gothic architecture. Very difficult to read/understand books

She has an accent and when you ask her to repeat something she will say it faster and more european then before. She does not follow the handouts and the lights are always off so don't try to ask her what she is talking about.

Dropped her class because it was so difficult. Simply too much work for undergraduate study (I know because I now have an MA in arthis)!! Take her only if you really enjoy and want to learn the topics she offers, because with all the quizes and borning lecutres, you need to be invested in study.

Anyone who speaks ill of this teacher should be taken out back and horsewhipped. She is in the category of UCI teachers who give our school a reputation for elite scholarship. She is a dedicated teacher and art historian. We are lucky to have her.

Gonosova is really smart, but she does not know how to properly teach a class. There's no discussion, just an hour&1/2 of bland lecture w/ slides and the lights off. The outlines jump back & forth so it can be hard to follow what her main point is. There are 2 papers, a midterm, a final and a quiz

She's the hardest Art History professor I've ever had. Although she's nice and somewhat helpful, she's sometimes difficult to understand during lecture. What's on the tests sometimes seems irrelevant (such as historical terminology) to art history.

Terrible lecturer. She has difficulty conveying simple ideas... One of those "see the complexity in everything" kinds of teachers. Seems to despise student participation.
