He gives you the grade he wants. Only focuses on western europe and cuts out history as he pleases. He will assign 100 pages of reading the same day as a paper is due then is mad when his students dont do the reading. No clear grading criteria at all, he just gives you the grade you think you deserve. Nice guy though.

Dr. Cardoza is a really smart professor and nice guy. Make sure to read and take detailed notes during the lectures because you'll need to use your lecture notes on his exams which are entirely writing. He gives the prompts ahead of time and he and the TA were very accessible in office hours, strict and specific grader but willing to discuss it.

Class is based all off of the weeks readings and his verbal lectures. If you skip class you will miss information that will be tested! Three essay exams... essay prompts are given 5 days in advance! Detailed lecture notes are encouraged and will help you get an A in this class. Very helpful and approachable if you ever have any questions!

Great prof. very lecture heavy and exams are entirely lecture so take good notes and study well. go to class! easy weekly reading quizzes if you read. No HW, just study notes REALLY hard for the exam because he grades carefully. He is super helpful though and makes history SO interesting. Such a great guy and would take this class again any day.

Cardoza is hilarious and a really great professor. History is boring but he made it enjoyable & his lectures are enjoyable. He ended class 15 mins early almost every day. Read! Its an easy A if you do. Quizzes on the readings every thursday, 2 midterms and a final both of which he gives you the questions and tells you what he wants. All from notes

Great teacher, very nice and laid back guy. Lectures keep you interested even if the topic isn't that exciting. Write down basically everything he says because the exams are essays based on memorizing lectures. If you can do that the class is easy. No assigned hw. Two midterms and Final.

He was a great professor. I am not a fan of history but he made it interesting because it was like story time. Exams are all essays but he gives questions a week in advance. Quizzes every week based off reading. READ. Take good notes and its an easy A if you study notes before exam. Dont miss lectures! class based off stuff he says so pay attention

Dr. Cardoza was a great teacher, but you have to work for it. There were 2 midterms and a final, all of which were entirely essay based, and the essays are based solely on lectures. With the lectures, he talks the entire time and has no power point, so you pretty much have to take notes on all that hes saying, but he also makes the lectures fun.

Would definitely recommend this class! Make sure you go to EVERY class because the tests are based purely on lecture information. Take thorough notes. If you listen in class (and understand the big themes), you'll be fine! He just is concerned about you knowing the big picture of whats happening during the time periods.

2 essay questions for exams. It seems crazy difficult but he gives you all the questions ahead of time and you pick 2 of 4 from the exam. His questions can literally be answered by his lectures, he gives you a clear outline of the lecture for the day and he is such a great guy!

DON'T SKIP! It's an interesting class but there are no slides or notes given to you. He speaks and you listen while writing. He gives the layout out for the class. Before class, I would type it, then follow his wording. You do have to remember a lot for the midterms and finals because he gives you the questions. Great person!

great lectures, easy to take notes on. 20% quizzes, part.; 40% 2 midterm exams; 40% final exam. quizzes are on the readings from the textbook, 2 SA 6 MC. midterm and final are straight from his lectures. his lecture is your outline. gives exam questions ahead of time. memorize those specific lecture notes. not sure of grading scale.

He's a knowledgable guy but impossible to even approach with any questions. Dry lectures, condescending. Stay away because he did not provide an actual grading scale. Your final grade is up to him. If he likes you, you will do great. If not, even hard work (spent weeks on papers and literally 5 hours/day every week studying) will not earn you an A.

This class is extremely lecture heavy and you must go everyday. The lectures are interesting and for the first time I actually liked history. Weekly reading quizzes which are easy if you read and two midterms plus a final. He gives the questions a week before so you can prepare but grades harshly. He is a nice guy tho.

I loved this class so much! The lectures were so interesting. However, I am a history major so I am not sure how people who don't enjoy history would feel about this class since it is so lecture heavy. There are weekly reading quizzes, 2 midterms, and final. You need to study a lot for the tests because he is a hard grader. Taking notes is matters.

I love Dr. Cardoza! He was my favorite professor at Loyola so far. Your grade is basically based off of 3 essay format tests. You need to attend lectures and take good notes to make sure you put all the information on your exams but his lectures are amazing. Would highly recommend!

Heard he's retiring so I won't waste my time writing a lot. This class is basically Honor's 103. Lot's of books to read and tests have Text ID's and essays. Wouldn't take if I had any other choice. Read like 15% of the material because I'm a good student and I did fine in the class though so he's fine.

Best professor I've yet to encounter. Makes learning fun. I found myself actually excited for his lectures. He makes the class fun and enjoyable. He's really funny and will make you laugh. Also chances are you'll get out of class early quite often and his exams are super easy to do well on if you do the proper prep!

I LOVE HIM AND HIS CLASS. He's laid back and really funny. Take extensive notes over the lecture. Only tests are 2 midterms and a final: each test is just two essays and he gives you prompts beforehand- SOLELY OVER LECTURE. Weekly quizzes over about 30 pgs from textbooks but they are mostly multiple choice. Challenging course but so worth taking.
