Comment:

Professor Reed is difficult but if you put work into his class you will love it. He will improve your writing emphatically and teach you how to teach yourself to read and analyze literature at a whole new level. Also, his classes are deep, insightful, and highly interesting. I strongly recommend him if you want to work and learn a lot in a semester

I had a great time in this class. Professor Reed was great at letting the students handle the discussion. He will make great insights and make his students think about the material, but still lets them discuss. He was very quick returning papers, one time it took him two days, but I was in a small class. He was very accessible and overall great

I had an amazing time in this class. Professor Reed was great at letting the students handle discussions but still made enlightening comments that made us think more about the material. He was very quick returning our essays, one time it only took two days. He was very accessible and overall a great guy.

He's late with grades (I didn't get any grade until three weeks before the end of the semester), doesn't listen, and doesn't seem to care about what I say in conferences. He assigns an unreasonable amount of work and puts you on the spot in class, which is humiliating when he doesn't even acknowledge that you've said anything and just moves on.

The class was fun and interesting. I went into his office for help on the two papers we had and he was really nice about them and gave me lots of feedback. Then when I actually turned in the papers I was extremely surprised with the grade he gave me in the class. It was my first C+ in college and the worst grade I got in any art history class.

Professor reed is a nice guy and is understanding about extensions and whatnot, but as a teacher he is not good at all. He is condescending and I often get the feeling he wasn't listening to what I had to say. He cold calls students regularly, and fishes for the exact answers HE wants, and gives no credit to other acceptable or interesting answers.

Took an art history class from him. He's a tough grader, probably the hardest I've ever had and sometimes he'll make you want to cry. But he knows the subject and class was very interesting--especially when it started with breathing excercises and gongs. I won't be taking another class from him but that's mostly because of his grading.

yes, he is arrogant and condenscending at times but he does get you thinking and his comments on papers are helpful. he once accused me of plagerism, which made me hate him for a while but he later apologized and i actually sensed his sincerity and left his class with a positive opinion of him. he has quite the mood swings and it sucks on those days when class discussion lags but he usually does well to jump-start discussions.

weirdo. doesn't always seem like he's listening when you talk. he's not really part of this reality, gave me a bad final grade. also when i met with him once he kept looking around and waving at other people, as if i was totally embarassing him.

I found this man arrogant, egotistical, impatient and condescending. Horrible professor, horrible class. He utterly destroyed my appreciation for the material and I would never take another art history class from him. Good side: understanding about the needs for extensions/missed deadlines.

Arden Reed comes off as somewhat intimidating at first, but I think he's a genuinely nice person. He's very intelligent and quite adept at facilitating discussions. One disclaimer: I have heard a few complaints about biases from female students.
