It really depends on you. If you are in the class to learn something, then thats a good start. He might not be very clear in his lecture but he helps out and that will help a great deal for the final. He wont give anything you havent done in class.

Not to be trifled with. He'll look on and around your desk to be sure you aren't cheating on tests. Late in the year, he handed out supplements re an interesting but very time consuming problem that wasn't in the book. It ended up on the final.
