i've had him for 3 semesters in a row (writing about lit, recent american poetry, and us 19th century lit). he's a really great guy and is entertaining as a teacher. i encourage everyone to take him at least once if they're an english major. his tests are extremely specific regarding the texts so if you don't read then don't take it. <3 him!

hes pretty cool. jokes around a lot. only thing i didnt like was that he makes you buy his book, and all we did was read it. no discussion about it- then we wrote a paper with minimal reference to it. 50 bucks down the drain. if youre not interested in the topic of his class, i wouldnt really reccommend him. not awful tho

I seriously look foward to this man's class. Although we may not spend the majority of the class time discussing the material, he is ONE FUNNY GUY!! You can't leave his class in a bad mood. His tests ask very random questions but if you go to class and pay attention, you'll be just fine.

Had him for US 19th Century Lit. All I can say is take good notes, as he speaks because the obscure things he mentions is on the exams. 3 exams and a paper. Exams had ID's, quotes and essays Q's. Authors nicknames, friends etc. obscure things mentioned in class is on the exam. Most of the class bombed first exam and he let us retake. UGH! 38 avg

Waste of time. Unfortunatley one of the few English teachers left at BSC who teaches higher level classes. Switches from rambling and storytelling back to occassional teaching. Trivial-pursuit tests; studying doesn't help much. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for English classes.

Easy enough. Nice enough guy. Straight forward, memorization type test, though can ask for obscure references. Won't learn anything from class, but if you devote enough time before the test to "study", you will be fine. Yes, dumb jokes, but better than monotone. Will occasionally(at most) call on you, etc., so can't be nonexistant.

Lots of professors try to tell jokes, but this guy was actually funny. He is very helpful and gave me good career advice outside of class. The tests are easy, so long as you pay attention in class. He tries to involve everyone, which might be tough if you don't want to be there.

You write 3 papers and your final is a research paper mostly graded on MLA format so just ask him a bunch of questions and you cant fail. I had him on speed dial by the end of the semester. He is very funny and a all around nice guy.

I took him for a GER and I honestly think he's the worst teacher I've ever had. He spent most of the class trying to make up stupid jokes and badgering people into answering them, then if you didn't laugh he would ask you why.
