Dr. Lizie could very well have been one of the most boring professors I have had during my academic career at BSU. His film history class was enlightening but that's really about it. Dr. Lizie's profoundly neutral and monotone personality made his class very lack luster. His grading criteria and expectations are also relatively unclear.

I took film in Comm with him, and it was the worst. Literally working my ass off for basic passing grades. Doesn't explain what he wants at all, especially with the weekly open responses on films, and notes. If you forget to do a response you grade will sink. Honestly, if you forget about stuff and/or are busy with your ACTUAL LIFE, don't take it.

Great guy, very tough grader when it comes to papers, but otherwise a fair grader when it comes to participation assignments. I like reaching out to him to ask questions, and would recommend this teacher for Communications majors. If you are interested in analyzing film, have Dr. Lizie for a teacher!

Would not recommend this class or Professor. Overwhelms you with so much assignments especially towards the end of the semester I couldn't even enjoy the class. Most of my time and energy went towards this class considering you have to watch hour long movies, answer long discussions, reflections, papers and even a final paper. Honestly hated it.

I liked Professor Lizie. Although he is on the tougher side when it comes to grading papers, he really like tore my papers up, I still think his class was manageable. Each week we had to watch a film and answer a series of discussion questions, which I got 100s on almost all of the time and they weren't that difficult.

This guy he isn't completely bad, he'll most def make you think outside the box however he's such a harsh grader and will rip you to shreds because he will ALWAYS expect more out of you. If you take this course prepare for a lot of homework, harsh grading and minimal response. But he can be cool sometimes and the films are cool.

Toughest grader I've ever had. You could put the same amount of energy into your homework every week, but one week you'll get a 60 and the next an 85 (but mostly 60's). Makes no sense and very discouraging. This was by FAR the class with the most work I had this semester. He's very vague with what he wants from papers but expects perfection.

the class was amazing, I love film therefore I love the class. however Professor Lizie makes you practically beg for a good grade. you have to write paragraph long answers for one question, and he doesn't directly answer your questions either. you are basically on your own so get ready for a lot of research, and tough writing. grading is hard

Lizie is a great prof to take if you're super interested in film. He really knows his stuff & he's very open to others' thoughts & criticisms of film. He might respond w/ a challenge, but he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't. Don't take it personally or be so sensitive. He's merely trying to make you think more critically. Great professor.

This is a really dry class but it's a good one to take if you're a Film Studies minor. The problem is, not many people take it so the class ends up being less than 10 people & while Lizie leads informative classes that are very casual, they're often very awkward. There's a 12 page final paper but it's fairly easy to write if you do the research.

This is the worst Professor you will run into at BSU. He is rude and nasty if you question a grade that you received. Even if you work hard and watch all of the films, he only grades the discussion based on whether you completely agree with his opinion. FYI to all you comm majors - he's about to be the Chair. Good luck.

Ugh... he's such a boring lecturer. Sitting through class is like torture, and then he expects you to remember stuff he talked about that wasn't on the PowerPoint. And his tests are HARD - he doesn't tell you what you're going to need to know, yet you're expected to memorize dates and directors for everything on the test. Not recommended.

Terrible. Doesn't teach, just asigns essay questions. Tons of them, and doesn't participate in class (on-line) so you don't know what he means or if you are on the wrong track. Doesn't apply himself which is a double standard he sets between himself and his students. I could learn so much more if he would actually teach. So much for communication!

I would highly recommend NOT taking this class. This applies to online/in class. It may be the worst experience of ur life considering this man is a total D.BAG. He is a stiff prude who hates life and would like to bring his students down with him. The Work is not hard however dont expect to get anything but a nasty grade and a load of critisism.
